Google just sent out an update for Search and a couple other applications. Google has been working very hard on making the Google Now application one of the most used apps on the Android market, but other apps like Gmail and Search have not been forgotten about. This week, Google announced that it finally added support for viewing menus for restaurants in your area. The menus are going to be showing up at the top of the search results you see after your query runs. The option is only available for those in the United States right now.
When you see the search results come up for a query about locations near you, the menu is located at the top along with tabs that will show you different sections of the menu. Some of the results that you see might even show you the prices for the items that you are looking at. When searching for a restaurant, the websites are typically jumbled and are rarely updated to reflect the latest information, but by the time you get there, it is too late to worry about that. Now instead of worrying whether you are going to be able to read the website on your smartphone, the results are posted in Search and are made to be easier to read.
Google is looking to eliminate the problem of restaurants that do not keep their website updated with relevant information, as well as one that can be viewed from any mobile device. Those that tested ou the new options and reviewed them online said the Search worked perfectly and they enjoyed seeing the menus right at the top of the screen. Results will vary for each device and might even be a little different if you are not running the latest Android software.
Google typically announces things like this via its Google+ page. It was there that the company made the information available and has been getting blasted with positive comments and even more users that want additional features that Google is likely to roll out in the future. Google Now is a virtual assistant application that can get you important information about your weather, favorite sports team, stocks, traffic or news for your local area. The app has been updated many times since it first showed up with Android Jelly Bean.
