If you happen to have a Nokia Lumia 710 4G and can’t wait for T-Mobile to roll out the official 8107 update that will take care of the disappearing keyboard issue and end-call bug plaguing the handset, a hack that concerns a couple of tools and about a half hour of your time will enable you to flash the 8107 build of Windows Phone OS (with the fix for the disappearing keyboard issue) and the latest 12070 firmware (which will terminate the end-call bug) on the handset.

Buy the Nokia Lumia 710 starting at just $99.

In addition to fixing the end-call bug on the Nokia Lumia 710 4G, the latest 12070 firmware also brings several enhancements to the performance of the handset that includes faster powering on from standby mode, among others. If you happen to be brave enough to tinker with your device, all you need to do is download a Nokia Lumia 710 4G ROM for India and install it on your handset. You don’t have to worry about having to use a ROM for India on your US smartphone because the ROM itself is unbranded and even comes with a couple of pics of the Taj Mahal.

The only snag with using this Indian ROM is that you’ll lose the ability to have the camera shutter sound disabled. In addition to that, the process is a full-on flash so your device will get wiped and your backups won’t work on the new firmware. IF everything sounds too complicated for you, then we suggest you just wait until T-Mobile comes around to releasing the official version for your Nokia Lumia 710 4G. And while waiting for that to happen, you can keep yourself preoccupied by reading through the specs sheet of the handset below.

The Nokia Lumia 710 4G was announced back in December and finally hit the shelves of T-Mobile in January where the device has been said to exceed expectations according to Nokia CEO Stephen Elop at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The device has dimensions of 119 x 62.4 x 12.5 mm and it weighs in at 125.5 grams.

Internally, the Nokia Lumia 710 4G runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango for its operating system and this is powered by a QualComm MSM8255 SnapDragon chipset which gives the device a Scorpion processor running at a clock speed of 1.4 GHz and 512MB of RAM. The device comes with just 8GB of internal memory which, sadly is non-expandable so you have to make do with that for your storage needs. Display-wise, the Nokia Lumia 710 4G sports a 3.7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen panel with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The display itself is made from Gorilla Glass and is powered by Nokia’s proprietary ClearBlack Display technology making it at par with the SuperAMOLED displays found in Samsung devices. The Nokia Lumia 710 4G only has one shooter to boast of and it comes in the form of its rear-facing 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash capable of snapping stills of up to 2592 x 1944 pixels and recording 720p clips at 30 frames per second.

Should you be interested in getting one of these babies to experience the Windows Phone ecosystem, select T-Mobile authorized retailers  currently offers the Nokia Lumia 710 4G for only $99.99 with a new two-year contract with T-Mobile.  Buy the Nokia Lumia 710 starting at just $99.
