htconeblackjAs a smartphone, the HTC One is hard to beat. With a large high-resolution display, industry-leading pixel density of 461 ppi, a powerful quad core processor and excellent multimedia capabilities, the HTC One has been one of the three bestselling handsets in the United States this year. And one of its attractions is the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement that is built into the phone. HTC last year purchased a controlling interest in Beats Audio, and they have included it as a part of the multimedia package in the HTC One 4G Android smartphone.

The HTC One 4G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at .

And working hand-in-hand with Beats Audio is Boom Sound. Do not let the rather sophomoric name fool you. This is a powerful tool, that absolutely gets the best out of Beats Audio. Boom Sound is basically a marketing term used to refer to the dual front facing amplified stereo speakers. While it is easy to over-hype some particular feature on a hot smartphone, we really cannot say enough about the dual front facing speaker combo on the HTC One.

Unfortunately, Beats Audio functions as a preset equalizer. Older Android operating system versions offered EQ settings which were customizable. The HTC removed these in favor of Beats Audio. You can either toggle it off or on, and that is it. When on, it does boost the base, and does improve the level of your mid-range. But fortunately, the Android EQ APIs are still in the phone, they are just not connected out-of-the-box. Poweramp is a music player app that offers a 10 band equalizer, and adding it to your HTC One will allow you to customize your sound experience.

You can also choose an application which employs the slumbering equalizer API, but does not include a full music player app. Different apps work better with different handsets, but Equalizer and music Volume EQ are two excellent ones. Whichever way you decide to customize your sound by adding an equalizer, make sure you do. The front facing, dual Boom Sound speakers are an outstanding and under-appreciated feature on the powerful HTC One smartphone, and customizing your sound to your personal preferences makes them even better.

The HTC One is slim at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in thickness, and delivers a large 4.7 inch 1,080P Full HD display. That screen is protected against normal wear and tear with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and the handset is powered by a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 quad core processor. 2.0 GB of RAM memory is built-in, as well as a generous 32 GB of onboard storage space. The phone also contains a rear facing camcorder with UltraPixel technology, which records video at 1,080P HD resolution.

The HTC One 4G can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at .
