There have been rumours for quite some time now, that Amazon could soon release a sequel to its popular tablet: The Kindle Fire. Priced at just $199 and a screen length of 7 inches, Amazon managed to create a new brand of tablets, which provoked Google into realizing the importance and the potential that this market has in offer. Now that Apple has realised the importance of this emerging brand, the company has decided to work on creating a 7-inch tablet. It’ll be interesting to see how Amazon handles this competition and probably high time, that the company releases the sequel to one of its most successful products.
There are still doubts as to whether Amazon will stick with the 7 inch market or decide to take on Apple with a larger tablet. All doubts are expected to be cleared on the 6th of September as Amazon has sent out invites claiming a major event. This announcement from Amazon comes a day after, Motorola introduced the DROID RAZR HD and Nokia announced the first two Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Critics claim that Amazon is playing it safe by taking on the likes of Motorola and Nokia, rather than risk going against Apple which has planned for a major announcement on the 12th of September (probably the iPhone 5). The Kindle Fire doesn’t feature Google applications and thus every tablet is sold at a loss. However, Amazon makes up for the losses by selling apps, content and Cloud space.
As already mentioned, Motorola and Verizon have begun sending out invites for what is believed to be the release of the DROID RAZR HD at the Big Apple on the 5th of September. The phone boasts a plethora of high end specs. The phone is expected to have a 4 inch screen at a resolution of 1280X720 over and LCD display. The phone’s processing abilities will be powered by Qualcomm’s 4th generation S4 MSM8960 Snapdragon processor. The phone is rumoured to have 1GB of RAM under the hood. An 8 MP shooter, a micro SD slot and a 2530 MAh are just a few of the many features this phone will possess. Also, the phone will use Android 4.0.4 which can also be upgraded to jelly bean. If the phone is announced in this event, it’ll be interesting to see when the phone reaches stores and also how Verizon prices this beast! Given that Apple is making an announcement a week later, competition seems to be scaling new heights next Month
