HP is one company that has never had any good luck with the tablet market, but according to reports, that is not going to stop the company from making more of the devices to sell at affordable prices. Some consumers might remember the HP Slate 7 and that the product was nothing more than common and much less than impressive to say the least, especially when compared to other 7-inch products on the market currently. Since the Slate 7 was tossed aside by just about every other tablet on the market, HP has released the HP Slate 21 and the Slate X2, which was a hybrid laptop/tablet combo.
The features and specs for a couple of the new tablets might be a little more impressive when compared to other HP devices that were released up to this point, but the company still has a long way to go in order to actually steal market share from the likes of Google, Apple and even Amazon at this point. The HP Slate 7 Extreme is one new tablet that is coming to the market and it features a 7-inch touch screen display with 1280×800 resolution.
The tablet is powered by a Tegra 4 processor , comes with a 5MP camera on the back and a VGA webcam situated on the front side of the device. The tablet supports Bluetooth accessories, Wi-Fi connections and comes with a stylus accessory. If the new Slate 7 Extreme sounds familiar, it might be because the tablet is based loosely on the new Nvidia Tegra Note that was announced earlier this week. Another tablet coming down the pipeline is the Slate 7 HD, which is a “true” HP tablet and might seem very similar to other tablets that HP has released in the past.
The Slate 7 HD is a 7-inch device as well and comes with an IPS touch screen that sports a 1280×800 resolution, Beats Audio technology, front side and back side cameras, along with a Marvell PXA986 chipset to power everything. The microSD card slot can be used to expand the storage and the original battery should get you about 9 hours of continuous usage depending on what you are using the tablet for, of course. The Slate 7 HD also comes with support for 4G and comes with 200MB free on the T-Mobile 4G LTE network.
