Arguably the most important and noticeable feature on the HTC Droid DNA 4G Android smartphone is its display. That high resolution 1.080P screen is one of the largest in the entire smartphone marketplace, and delivers what is probably the highest pixel density currently owned by a smartphone. The handset does also include the exclusive Beats Audio sound package, a powerful quad core processor, high-resolution video capture and substantial RAM memory, but the screen is the first and most impressive thing you notice.
Back in September of last year, we heard from the rumor mill that HTC had one monster of a handset in the works. GL Benchmark tests were more than impressive, and the resultant phone was the Droid DNA 4G. HTC’s effort to compete head-to-head with the Galaxy S III and iPhone 5, the cornerstone of the handset’s feature package is the large 5.0 inch 1,080P screen. Even with that large display, HTC has done a good job keeping the handset as light and small as possible.
Ensconced in a slim, tough polycarbonate unibody, that display delivers an incredible 441 color pixels every inch (ppi). Considering that a pixel density of 300 ppi or better is outstanding for a smartphone, this is an excellent effort by HTC smartphone designers. Comparing apples to apples, the HTC Droid DNA display compares more than favorably to the 306 ppi on the 4.8 inch screen of the Samsung Galaxy S III, as well as the 326 ppi pixel density of the iPhone 5′s 4.0 inch display.
Delivering better than 33% more pixels than those two handsets with smaller screens is an achievement which is immediately noticed. That display has also been created with a seamless laminated screen that helps eliminate reflection, and the bright red side grills and ultra matte finish give the handset a unique appearance. The Droid DNA 4G also supports wireless charging, so you can just pop it on a charging pad to power up.
The handset also offers a powerful Snapdragon 1.5 GHz quad core processor and Adreno 3 GPU, which team up with that high resolution display to make playing the preloaded HD game Reign of Amira a real spectacle. The handset also offers 2.0 GB of RAM, 1,080P HD video recording with its rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder, and the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system. The Droid DNA 4G is also slim at 0.38 inches (9.73 mm), and is capable of simultaneously capturing high-quality snapshots while shooting HD video.
