droiddnaArriving on November 21 of last year, the Droid DNA 4G is a Jelly Bean powered smartphone running on Verizon’s 4G LTE network in the US. The phone was recently spotted with a reduced $49 on contract price tag at Amazon, and was designed with a slim, light and tough polycarbonate unibody. Hallmarks on the handset are a powerful quad core processor, extensive RAM memory, exclusive Beats Audio sound package and one of the largest and highest resolution displays found on any smartphone.

The HTC Droid DNA is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.

HTC made the Droid DNA to go head-to-head and toe-to-toe with such popular phones as the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III, and stacking feature versus feature it is hard to argue against the speedy multimedia device doing exactly that. The Jelly Bean 4.1.2 operating system is present out-of-the-box, and the handset is sleek and thin, thanks to a distinctive red side grill design and seamless laminated screen. The back of the phone has an ultra-matte finish, and it measures only 0.38 inches (9.73 mm) in thickness.

The Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer has lost market share in recent months, but the HTC Droid DNA 4G certainly cannot be blamed for that, as it is a consistent and frequent visitor to top 10 bestselling smartphone list like the one found at Amazon. When the handset debuted it significantly raised the pixel density bar for the competition, spreading an incredible 441 color pixels per inch over it’s 5.0 inch display. That Full HD 1,080P screen is protected against your everyday abuse by a layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass, and 16 million different colors are present.

The display on the Droid DNA is actually a 5.0 inch ImageChip ISP S-LCD 3 model, with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Standard capacitive, multitouch gestures are used to navigate the device, and the battery offers up to 12.6 hours of talk time from a full battery charge. The CPU alluded to earlier is a Snapdragon quad core 1.5 GHz chip, and it joins an Adreno 320 GPU, 2.0 GB RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage in the handset’s hardware package.

The rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder is joined in the camera combo by a front facing 2.1 megapixel chat cam, and both of those cameras offer extreme wide-angle capabilities. The rear shooter captures video at 1,080P HD resolution and comes with an extensive special effects package, and the front facing chat cam can also be used for video calls. The HTC Droid DNA 4G Android smartphone also offers NFC wireless support out-of-the-box, and can function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for multiple wireless devices.

You can purchase the Droid DNA at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
