Dual core processors are fast, but quad cores handle the same amount of operations in half the time. And yes, mobile handsets with 720p resolution displays and 1.0 GB of RAM memory make us wonder how we ever lived with the old 480 x 800 pixel screens and poor RAM allotments. But now there is a smartphone with a True HD 1,080p display and quad core processor, also packing 2.0 GB of RAM, as well as delivering the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS out of the box. The phone is the new HTC Droid DNA smartphone running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system.
The HTC Droid DNA is available for a lowered holiday price now starting at $49.99.
The handset arrived in late November this year delivering one of the largest displays found on any mobile handset, complete with Near Field Communications (NFC) support, full range Beats Audio sound system, and super slim profile. The HTC Droid DNA running on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system in the US measures 0.38 inches (9.73 mm) in thickness, and the built-in music player as well as Beats Audio application both benefit from dedicated speaker amplifiers. Built into the front of the handset is a 2.1 megapixel chat cam with video call support, and around back is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder with wide-angle f/2.0 lens that captures video in 1,080P HD resolution.
The display on the HTC Droid DNA 4G is a generous 5.0 inches, and that ImageChip ISP Super LCD 3 screen presents more than 16 million colors at a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. That lends the large capacitive, multitouch screen an overall resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, for true HD viewing. Standard light and proximity sensors are on board for auto brightness adjustment and battery conservation, and the handset is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Gorilla Glass 2. Even with all of the battery draining hardware on board, the HTC Droid DNA delivers a full 12.6 hours of talk time from a single charge of its 2,020 mg cell.
As mentioned earlier, a quad core central processor is at the cornerstone of the handset’s hardware package, and has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. That Krait CPU is part of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 microchip set which also includes an Adreno 320 graphics processor. The handset offers 16 GB of built-in storage out-of-the-box, and the popular YouTube and Picasa social networking applications have been pre-installed. The built-in music player is able to filter your favorite music selections by album title, artist name and play lists, and a built-in web browser offers Internet access.
You can purchase the Droid DNA for a reduced holiday price point now starting at $49.99.
