The HTC Droid DNA is a 4G LTE smartphone running on Verizon’s network in the United States. The handset arrived last November, and has been present on most best-selling smartphones lists ever since it launched. Recently the best-selling Android smartphone received a substantial price reduction from at least one online retailer. The Amazon Wireless store online currently has the Droid DNA 4G selling for $49 on contract. While this is usually a low-end or entry-level price tag, the Droid DNA 4G delivers arguably one of the best overall technical specs packages of any smartphone.
The HTC Droid DNA is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.
The handset delivers the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box, and several tech bloggers have pointed to an upcoming 4.2.2 operating system upgrade, but this has not been confirmed nor denied by Verizon. The HTC Sense Android UI is also on board, and the handset is powered by a Qualcomm quad core 1.5 GHz CPU. The exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package delivers a 2.5 volt headset amp and dedicated speaker amplifiers, and a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory is also pre-installed.
Physically the handset is very striking, as HTC has included unique red side grills and an ultra matte finish to the tough polycarbonate unibody. Display reflection elimination is provided by a seamless laminated screen, and the handset is capable of wireless charging. NFC wireless support is also present, popular applications YouTube and Picasa have been pre-installed, and the Droid DNA 4G delivers video out connectivity. But no doubt the first thing you notice on the phone is one of the largest screens in the entire smartphone marketplace, as well as one of the highest resolutions and pixel densities.
The display in question runs 5.0 inches, delivering 1,080 x 1,920 resolution at an incredible 441 pixels per inch. Created to single-handedly battle the popular and best-selling Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III smartphones, the Droid DNA 4G outdoes both of those handsets in both screen size and pixel density. The iPhone 5 delivers Apple’s first 4.0 inch display ever, with a pixel density of 326 ppi. Samsung’s Galaxy S III has sold more than 50 million units globally, and does so with a 4.8 inch display and 306 ppi.
Talk time runs high at 12.6 hours from a full battery charge, and 16 GB of built-in storage can be enhanced with the built-in microSD slot. Up to four shots per second can be captured with the rear facing camcorder, and that 8.0 megapixel shooter also allows for simultaneous HD video and image capture. Video is recorded at 1,080P HD, and the front facing chat cam can be used to place video calls.
You can purchase the Droid DNA at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
