Back in the day, the Samsung Galaxy Note II reigned supreme in the phablet category of the smartphone competition. After all, the Samsung smartphone is the epitome of what a phablet really is – a cross between a smartphone and a tablet. It has a massive display along with fire-breathing components under the hood that enable it to bring an extensive set of capabilities to the table. It also helped that the other “phablets” that were released by other OEMs were not powerful enough to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note II thereby making the domination of the second generation Samsung phablet on the category complete.
The HTC Droid DNA is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.
Things slightly changed though when Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC joined the phablet fray and released the HTC Droid DNA. The HTC phablet similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note II is one pretty capable device in terms of its specs sheet and though it comes with a slightly smaller 5.0-inch display, the handset more than makes up for it by coming with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution display compared to the 1280 x 720 resolution of the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
However, not only the components under the hood of the HTC Droid DNA are impressive. Even its camera department is just as impressive as well and we were impressed with the excellent video recording quality that the HTC phablet produced. In fact, there are also other people that noticed the video recording capabilities of the HTC Droid DNA. In fact, the handset has already been used to shoot and record an entire music video – a testament to the capabilities of its camera.
As it stands, musician Samuel Sanders and photographer Chuck Jackson, who directed the said music video, have made use of the HTC Droid DNA to shoot and record the video of “Captured” in its entirety. The final product of the video is very decent and nowhere in the video would you think that a smartphone was used to shoot ad record it. For those interested in how the HTC Droid DNA fared, the video of Samuel Jackson’s “Captured” can now be seen over at YouTube.
The HTC Droid DNA reached official status when it was unveiled back in November. It was released during the same month by Verizon in US shores where it became one of the more recognizable handsets in the lineup of Big Red. The HTC Droid DNA boasted of a QualComm APQ8064 SnapDragon chipset under the hood which powered its operations. The handset also relies on a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor and 2GB of RAM to ensure that its performance is always flawless. The storage space onboard the handset is a bit meager though at just 16GB with no option for memory expansion while its display as mentioned earlier is a 5.0-inch SuperLCD 3 panel with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Also, its camera department is just as impressive with its rear 8MP shooter and front 2.1MP video call and self-portrait snapper.
You can purchase the Droid DNA at a discounted price tag now starting at $49.99.
