Since Verizon is the undisputed leader in terms of LTE coverage in US shores, it only follows that the wireless provider should have the widest 4G LTE handset base in our side of the world. This massive handset base is designed to give its subscribers a wide variety of options with regard to the smartphone they will use in taking advantage of the LTE network of the carrier.
Just recently, Verizon announced yet another addition to its lineup of 4G LTE-packing devices in the form of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE. The wireless carrier made the announcement over at CTIA back in May but as to be expected, Verizon did not give us a timeframe as to when we can expect the handset to make its debut in the shelves of the wireless provider.
At first, we were led to believe that the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE could possibly make it to the shelves of Verizon on the last day of May but that clearly did not happen. Recently, we had a couple of reliable sources whispering in our ears that the handset will launch on June 21. Of course, nothing is set in stone at this point so you are reminded to take everything with a grain of salt.
As for its price point, there were a couple of rumors that surfaced in the last couple of days that pegged the price point of the handset from as low as $149.99 to a staggering $299.99. Nothing was confirmed at that point but more recently, the latest Verizon MAP (minimum advertised price) got leaked and we managed to get ahold of it. In the said MAP, the price point of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is pegged at $149.99. However, this is the lowest it could go and the handset may even launch with a price tag of $199.99 but will come with a $50 mail-in rebate as previously reported but still unconfirmed.
At this point in time, everything from the release date and price tag of the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is still based on speculation but we are rather hopeful that the handset wouldn’t be that pricey to make it easier for our smartphone-crazed brethren get one of these bad boys come launch day.
As for the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, the handset is expected to ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system. Under the hood, the circuitry of the handset revolves around its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset where the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE’s dual-core 1.2 GHz Krait processor is sitting right next to a full gigabyte of RAM. The handset comes with an onboard memory pegged at just 8GB, meager by today’s standards, but since it has a microSD card slot for memory expansion, this shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Display-wise, the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE comes with a 4.0-inch SuperLCD panel with a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration gives the handset a rear-facing 8MP camera and a front-facing 1.3MP webcam.
