In terms of releasing its plans of getting the handsets in its stable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, HTC was a bit late in doing so. The Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer only managed to do so back in March when it released the list of devices that will get the Android 4.0 refresh and the ETAs as to when this handsets will get the upgrade.
Included in the said list is the HTC EVO 3D and after months of waiting, users of the handset have finally gotten the much-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the handset. Well, only those rocking the international version of the handset residing in the EMEA (Europe – Middle East – Africa) region that is. Of course, it is only expected that the carrier-branded version of the handset would get its Ice Cream Sandwich treat much later because the carrier has as much input in terms of what gets included in the ICS update for that matter.
ICS hit the original version of the HTC EVO 3D last June 26 but barely a couple of weeks after that, we already heard reports that the update is already being rolled out to a carrier-branded version of the handset. If you happen to live north of the border in Canadian territories and happen to have an HTC EVO 3D from Rogers, you’re in luck. Apparently, the wireless provider have started pushing out the update to the handset and you should be waking up with the notification that will let you know of the update’s availability on your handset. Should the notification be nowhere to be found, you can always manually check for the update.
Because of this, users of the Sprint version of the HTC EVO 3D in US shores are already asking as to when they will get the update on their respective devices. Hopefully, it wont be long now and once we hear more details, you will definitely be the first to know.
As for the HTC EVO 3D, the circuitry of the handset revolves around a QualComm MSM8660 SnapDragon chipset which brings a dual-core 1.2 GHz Scorpion processor and a full gigabyte of RAM to the handset. In terms of its storage space, the HTC EVO 3D comes with 4GB of onboard storage which can be expanded using the microSD card slot of the handset. The display of the handset is its standout feature with its 4.3-inch glasses-free, 3D capable SuperLCD panel with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The camera department of the handset on the other hand is composed of a rear 5MP shooter and a front-facing 1.3MP video call camera.

How is it that the VM 3D already has ICS it but Sprint customers do not?
Is it just greed? You know people want to be running the latest and greatest so why not make them buy a new phone to do so.
You just want to sell a bunch of new LTE (Sprint Network Vision) phones w/ICS to poor saps who don’t even know there is practically NO LTE network infrastructure in place! And I almost forgot they get the privilege of paying an extra $10.00 a month for the use of the practically non-existent network.
In the mean time you have customers that have been with you for many years getting ready to jump ship for business practices like this.
Just go to any Android forum and read some of the posts regarding Sprints EVO 3D & waiting for the ICS OTA. Your really ticking off your customers and from what I can tell you can ill-afford losing yet more of your customer base.
Release the update already, I know you have it! Don’t ask how but I do.
I know this will probably never get read by any Sprint employee with any clout but at least I got to vent to my fellow frustrated 3D owners.
Now excuse me while I go stand by the railing of this ship.
Do the right thing Sprint, push the EVO 3D ICS OTA!
Send an email to [email protected] let them know how you feel about the lack of support for your EVO 3D!
Make it easy if you have replied to this thread just copy & paste your post into your email and include a link to this thread.
Even if you have not and don’t wish to post in the thread send an email anyway!
Suggested subject line: “Do the right thing Sprint, push the EVO 3D ICS OTA!” or whatever you want just make sure you let them know you want ICS on you EVO 3D! NOW!

What’s missing here is how much bloatware Rogers has put on this phone. They took a great upgrade and screwed it up. I have ICS on my ASUS Transformer and love it, on my phone it’s a mess. I need to root this thing to get all the junk of it.

There are some bugs according to sprint for their roll out so they don’t want to release it to early and have more problems. Spoke to some techs yesterday.
On the flip side, they are probably not putting a high priority on this since it’s not a revenue generator.

Pathetic, just pathetic! I just took the insurance off because the phone isnt worth it now. The paint chipped off the whole frame plus its coming apart. HTC is making crap! No they wont fix it they just want me to pay the 100.00 for another phone. To hell with that, I would rather leave Sprint. Also the network is horrible. Super slow 3G when it works. 4G almost never works causing it to stick. ICS or BCS or SHIT! I dont expect a difference with the internet.
