HTC Evo 4G LTE Delivers Powerful Punch Regardless of Pending 4G LTE Service from Sprint

The HTC Evo 4G LTE Android smartphone hit the Sprint wireless network in early June and became an instant flagship phone for that company. One of the first handsets to offer LTE connectivity for Sprint, the handset also delivers a slim profile, handy built-in kickstand for hands-free viewing and Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system. At only 0.35 inches (8.99 mm) in thickness, the HTC Evo 4G LTE nonetheless comes packed with high-end software and hardware. HTC has also included their Sense v4.0 Android overlay user interface that meshes with ICS 4.0, and standard multitouch capacitive gestures navigate the handset.

The large 4.70 inch display is one of the biggest screens found on any 4G smartphone, and the pixel density of 312 pixels per inch is also one of the best offered by any mobile handset. The Super LCD 2 screen shows visuals in 16 million separate colors, and a scratch resistant and glare reducing layer of Corning Gorilla Glass overlays the display. The built-in light sensor automatically corrects for the proper brightness level, and the built-in proximity sensor conserves battery life by shutting the display off when you raise the handset to make or receive a voice call.

The Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip package on board the device includes the same dual core 1.5 GHz Krait central processor found in the HTC One X, and the Adreno 225 GPU handles all graphics processing. 1.0 GB of RAM memory is on board, and the HTC Evo 4G LTE handset comes with 16 GB of data storage built-in. Additional storage can be added via the microSD slot, and cards up to 32GB are supported.

An 8.0 megapixel camcorder is integrated into the back of the handset, and is one of the few cameras found on any smartphone that provides simultaneous HD video and image capture. The handset also benefits from an f/2.0 lens and built-in LED flash, which team up to offer excellent low light camera operability. That camcorder  on the HTC Evo 4G LTE also offers a back illuminated sensor (BSI), CMOS image sensor, high dynamic range mode (HDR), special effects package and self timer, as well as several more customization options.

Video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution, and a 1.3 megapixel chat cam is found on the front of the handset. Offered in your choice of either gray or white chassis, the HTC Evo 4G LTE handset delivers the full range Beats Audio sound system, a pre-installed YouTube video player and Stereo FM radio with RDS in its multimedia package.
