If you happen to have Sprint for your wireless provider of choice and are eyeing to make the HTC EVO 4G LTE as your next mobile weapon of choice, most probably you are already aware of the troublesome road that the handset has taken in its journey to hit the shelves of the carrier. Looking back, the handset is by far the best smartphone to be added on to Sprint’s lineup of Android-powered devices. The HTC EVO 4G LTE should have made its debut in the shelves of the carrier last May18 but the handset got held up at the US Customs pending an investigation and review being done by the International Trade Commission.
The said delay was caused by an ITC exclusion order because the handset was said to have infringed on several Apple patents. All the shenanigans surrounding the HTC EVO 4G LTE has now been cleared up though after HTC managed to find a workaround and take the infringing code off of the firmware of the handset. Due to this, the HTC EVO 4G LTE finally got the nod of US Customs to start shipping.
Sprint managed to ship some early preorders for the handset and several of our smartphone-crazed brethren already got the chance to play with the HTC EVO 4G LTE. Despite this, the handset still isn’t available yet, neither in brick and mortar stores of the carrier nor online.
Despite this apparent holdup, Sprint already released word that the issue will be resolved soon and with the clearance to ship already given by US Customs, shipments of the HTC EVO 4G LTE are expected to enter US shores in the next couple of days. Sad to say and as is always the case, an exact release date wasn’t provided by Sprint for that matter.
Despite the apparent lack of an ETA, “in the next couple of days” still sounds reassuring because Sprint will definitely make it a point to line its shelves up with the HTC EVO 4G LTE as soon as possible. This is to ensure that the subscribers of the wireless provider will get access to a very capable handset that doesn’t only come with an impressive specs sheet but will also enable its user to enjoy the LTE network of the carrier once it finally gets lit up.
As for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, the handset already ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and this draws power from the handset’s QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset. The performance of the handset is also snappy and buttery-smooth, thanks to the massive computing power generated by its dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1GB of RAM. On the other hand, a user’s storage needs are taken care of by the HTC EVO 4G LTE’s 16GB of internal memory. Should this fall short, a user can make use of the microSD card slot of the HTC EVO 4G LTE to expand its onboard memory. The display of the HTC EVO 4G LTE is a massive 4.7-inch SuperIPS LCD2 panel with a 1280 x 720 resolution while its camera department is comprised of a rear-facing 8MP shooter and a 1.3MP front facer, both of which are capable of 1080p and 720p video capture respectively.
