The HTC Inspire 4G takes me back to my younger days when I would patiently await my mother’s fresh-baked goods, which never seemed to be ready soon enough. Released in February of this year, the HTC Inspire 4G has had owners anxiously awaiting the Android upgrade to the Gingerbread operating system.
It seems it was only minutes after the HTC Inspire launch date that HTC and AT&T began announcing a free over the air (OTA) upgrade from Android 2.2 Froyo to the Gingerbread 2.3 operating system. Well, that day is finally here.
For users desiring instant gratification, the OTA update is ready. You can also head over to HTC’s website and download it there. Bear in mind, if the OTA update has not yet taken effect in your area, you’ll want to make the download instantly.
The Gingerbread 2.3.3 OS is a huge upgrade from the Froyo 2.2. Just remember to back up everything on your phone because the manual download from the website wipes out everything. Yep, pain in the butt, but that’s what you get for wanting instant gratification. If you prefer to wait for the OTA it should be hitting soon.
HTC says you will receive a notification when the update is ready. You can also follow the following steps in case you may have missed the notification. On the Inspire 4G, go to Home > Menu > Settings > AT&T Software Update > HTC Wi-Fi software update > Check now. Why is the new update so cool? The already user-friendly HTC Sense user interface has additional application tray features and FriendStream social interaction features which are really neat, and you have to see for yourself.
There are also power management functions and a couple of minor bug fixes as well as major visual and media improvements all around. The step-by-step download instructions for manually downloading from HTC’s site are available there. For those of you still shopping for handsets, this simply makes the already attractively priced HTC Inspire 4G even a better buy. This is one of the better one penny 4G phones on the marketplace right now.
With a big 4.3 inch screen and powerful 1 GHz processor, the HTC Inspire 4G is a cornerstone for enjoyable multimedia and multitasking. The upgrade to the more flexible, and honestly, more enjoyable, Android 2.3.3 operating system means mamma’s baked goods are ready, and it’s time to take a bite of that tasty Gingerbread.
