When the Google Android 4.4 KitKat software was released there were plenty of handsets that made the update list and even though the Moto X and the Nexus branded devices were first on the list, that did not mean that other popular smartphones were not on the list. The popular HTC One smartphone was released back in April of this year and was one of the hottest selling smartphones on the market through the rest of the year. Shortly after the Android 4.4 KitKat software was released, the HTC One was on the list for early next year.
Now that HTC One owners now that the device will, in fact, get the update, it is only a matter of time. More details were released for the HTC One Developer Edition and it looks like the Android 4.4.2 KitKat will be the option for the smartphone. Back in November, HTC confirmed the updates for a series of HTC devices and less than one month later, the company released the Android 4.4 KitKat for the HTC One Google Play Edition. Just a few weeks later, the HTC One Developer Edition was getting updated to Android 4.4 software.
The next in line is the HTC One, which is expected to arrive sometime in the first quarter of next year. HTC has been doing a great job of keeping its work when it comes to the updates. Right now the HTC One Developer Edition is running Android 4.4 KitKat and it will be getting the Android 4.4.2 KitKat software any time now. According to HTC’s Mo Versi, the company has confirmed that the update will come eventually, but there is not exact date. Versi claimed that details about the software will be release soon.
The update is not going to be one of the largest updates for the device, but it will have some bug fixes coming along with it. HTC also confirmed that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will be coming along with the Sense 5.5 user interface as well. The Sense 5.5 software for the user interface will bring updates for BlinkFeed and Zoe, two of the most popular apps that HTC puts on newer smartphones. Since there is no exact release date, this will pop back up in the news once that information becomes available.
