One of the most anticipated smartphones of the year, the HTC One has finally made it to the tech crazed United States consumer electronics marketplace. Amazon is one of the first online retailers to offer the 4G LTE Android smartphone, and the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS is present out-of-the-box. Amazon has deeply discounted the handset, and it retails for $99 on contract currently from that online retailer. PhonesReview has reported an inside source told them that Jelly Bean 4.2.2 will arrive on the HTC One in about two months.
The handset has received “green machine” certification from independent UL Environment, meaning that the HTC One phone contains “environmentally preferable materials with a minimal environmental impact.” The phone delivers a large high-resolution display and powerful processor, delivering HTC exclusive features like Sense TV, allowing you to use the handset as a remote control for your TV. The HTC BlinkFeed application constantly sends news and feeds from your favorite social networking sites to your home screen, and is designed in a premium metal unibody.
Made skinny at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm), the handset nonetheless delivers one of the largest high resolution displays in the entire smartphone marketplace at 4.70 inches. Resolution runs 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, with the highest pixel density we have seen to date, at 468 pixels per inch. The Super LCD 3 screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and delivers more than 16 million colors. Standard multitouch, capacitive gestures are supported, and the handset offers video out options.
The HTC One 4G Android smartphone contains a sealed 2,300 mA battery, delivering up to 8.5 hours of video playback and 16.0 hours of talk time from a single charge. The CPU is a powerful quad core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 processor, an Adreno 320 GPU handles all graphics processing, 2.0 GB of RAM memory has been pre-installed, as has 32 GB of internal storage. HTC has included unique UltraPixel technology on the handset’s rear facing camcorder, and video capture is possible at 1,080P HD resolution.
More megapixels do not mean a better picture, and the HTC One provides a 2 UltraPixel camera capable of taking indoor photos without a flash by engineering a more advanced CMOS image sensor, ISP and optical lens system. The handset captures up to 300% more light than the typical 8.0 or 13.0 megapixel smartphone camera according to HTC, and is capable of simultaneous high definition image and video capture. A front facing chat cam is also on board, the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package is also present, and the HTC One delivers dual front speakers and a stereo FM radio with RDS capabilities.
