htconeThe HTC One 4G Android smartphone roared into 2013 as one of the most anticipated devices of the last couple of years. Early on it has performed well, and has totaled more than 5 million units sold since its release on April 19 in the United States. That is less than two months of availability, and HTC has desperately needed a phone to perform as well as the One currently is. Industry awards are also nice, and at this year’s Computex Mobile Industry Expo the phone earned the “Best Device” blue ribbon.

The HTC One 4G Stealth Black is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $79.99.

Held in Taipei, the Best Device award is given by judges at Computex for the phone with the best design and innovation of the year. Ensconced in a premium metal unibody design is a large high-resolution display with the highest pixel density of any phone, double the average 4G smartphone talk time, environmentally-friendly Green Machine platinum certification by UL Environment, and a powerful quad core processor. And one of the innovations the judges were surely rewarding is the UltraPixel technology the camera delivers.

Smartphone shoppers have been conned into believing that more megapixels means better resolution and better results from a camera. This is not always the case, as the HTC One proves by putting a 2.0 megapixel lens on its main camera. However, by engineering an advanced CMOS image sensor and ISP, and a technically superior optical lens system, the UltraPixel designation is created. This allows the HTC One camcorder to collect up to 300% more light than even those smartphones which boast an 8.0 or 13.0 megapixel lens.

Video is recorded in 1,080P HD resolution, and simultaneously the HTC One handset can capture video and images in high-definition. That rear snapper is also capable of collecting up to 20 photos plus a 3 second video with one click of the shutter button, and can even capture slow motion clips at 768 x 432 pixels. The wide-angle f/2.0 lens joins a back illuminated sensor (BSI), built-in LED flash, high dynamic range mode (HDR) and optical image stabilization to deliver excellent results in any lighting situation, and even when your hands are not that steady.

In a slim 0.37 inch (9.3 mm) profile, the handset delivers a large 4.7 inch Super LCD 3 display. Resolution runs 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, with an industry-leading pixel density of 468 pixels per inch. 16.0 hours of talk time is available from a single charge, and the Snapdragon 600 quad core CPU powering the handset has been clocked at 1.7 GHz. A generous 32 GB of built-in storage is present, as is 2.0 GB of RAM memory.

The HTC One 4G Stealth Black can be purchased at a discounted price tag now starting at $79.99.
