The HTC One has been one of the best selling handsets ever since it arrived in late April of this year in the United States. With a large high-resolution screen, very powerful quad core processor and what is arguably the best feature and hardware package of any smartphone, it continues to be a popular choice in the mobile marketplace. Rumors were that the handset would get a Jelly Bean 4.2 Android operating system upgrade in late May or early June, and the most recent tweet from a French HTC tipster has predicted June 12 for that update.

You may remember that the head of HTC Russia commented back in April that the HTC One 4G smartphone would probably receive an upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.2 “sometime in the middle of June.” Just recently, the French Yves Wi (@Hawk1902) tweeted that the HTC One would definitely receive an update over the air to Android 4.2.2 and the Sense 5 Android UI beginning on June 12. There is no information forthcoming from HTC, and if this update does roll out beginning on the 12th, it will take time to reach all global HTC One owners as these updates generally do.
Also, most updates seem to start in Asia and Europe and head West, so US HTC One smartphone owners may be the last to get the long-awaited Jelly Bean 4.2 and Sense 5 UI updates. If you own an HTC One smartphone we recommend you begin checking your notifications over the next few days, and when official word is released, we will update that announcement here. With early launch supply problems and availability only since April 19 in the United States, the HTC has still managed more than 5 million units sold globally according to an unnamed HTC executive in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
The cornerstone of the HTC One handset’s hardware package is a quad core Snapdragon 600 CPU, providing up to 40% more power than the Snapdragon S4 Pro according to HTC. The phone delivers one of the largest and highest resolution displays found on any mobile handset, and offers a slim profile at 0.37 inches (9.3 mm). The large 4.70 inch screen boasts an industry-leading 468 pixels per inch, for an overall Full HD resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels.
The Super LCD 3 screen is protected against wear and tear by a scratch resistant layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and the phone delivers up to 16.0 hours of talk time from a full battery charge. The quad core CPU has been clocked at 1.7 GHz, and joins a generous 32 GB of built-in storage space, a full 2.0 GB of RAM memory and a powerful Adreno 320 GPU in the HTC One hardware package. The phone’s rear facing camera provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution and offers a special effects package, and the front facing chat cam has a 2.1 megapixel sensor.
