For those of you that have the HTC One, the day has finally come for an update to the operating system as long as you are on the T-Mobile or AT&T network. If you have the Developer Edition of the HTC One handset, you will be getting a notification soon in regards to bringing your smartphone up to date with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software. HTC began rolling out the Android 4.3 update a little more than one week ago to those in Taiwan, so it only makes sense that the update will get around to the United States next.
The HTC One 4G is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $99.
According to HTC, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update will be sent out across all of the models in all regions of the world, however, when asked about the United States, the company could not provide an exact date for release. HTC then went on to say that the company is working hard with the mobile carriers in the United States in order to get the software certified for release. This week, a bit of information leaked regarding the updates for the devices on the AT&T and T-Mobile network and the source has been proven correct many times before.
The interesting thing about the leaked information is that the HTC One model on the Sprint network was not mentioned and there did not seem to be an obvious reason as to why that would be. Sprint is typically one of the first companies to get in line with updates that are being sent out to smartphones. The updates could still hit this month with just a few days left, but it is more likely that it will be approved for release early in October.
The HTC One arrived back in April of this year and was immediately reviewed as one of the best smartphones on the market at the time. Featuring a nice 4.7-inch S-LCD touch screen display with a 1080p HD resolution, the HTC One wowed smartphone owners right out of the box. The display also has a 468ppi pixel density and scratch resistant glass for protection. The battery is a little smaller than average, but should still provide around 8 hours of use. The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm processor, graphics processor and 2GB of RAM. The “UltraPixel” camera on the back side also allows for 1080p HD video recording.
