htconeSmartphone manufacturer HTC recently announced some less than stellar financials. Due to the poor profit delivered by the company recently, HTC cut back on ordering as many components for many of their popular smartphones. That has caused the much-anticipated HTC One 4G Android smartphone to be delayed in the United States, but that hasn’t stopped the handset from launching in India for roughly 42,990 Rupees, which is around $789 in the unlocked version. A pretty solid launch date rumor of April 19 is expected in the US.

When the HTC One was debuted earlier this year, the Android smartphone offering green machine certification was expressed by that smartphone manufacturer as an attempt to improve the HTC smartphone lineup in four basic areas. HTC wanted to improve camera operability and stabilization, simplify the HTC Sense UI experience, deliver enhanced stereo sound in not only the headset connection but also the handset’s speakers, and deliver a premium metal body that was still slim and as compact as possible considering it delivers one of the largest screens in the smartphone marketplace.

The HTC One delivers on those promises, offering the exclusive Beats Audio sound enhancement package with a dedicated headset amplifier and onboard speaker amps. As mentioned above, the handset has received platinum certification by the independent testing lab UL Environment, meaning that the HTC One “contains environmentally preferable materials with a minimal environmental impact.” HTC has delivered the phone in a durable metal unibody design not unlike that of the iPhone 5, and has made the HTC Sense Android experience simpler and clutter free.

Camera quality has been improved thanks to the addition of optical image stabilization and a BSI (back illuminated sensor), and also debuts a new cutting-edge camera technology, the UltraPixel. Powering the handset is a Snapdragon 600 quad core processor which is purportedly up to 40% more powerful than the Snapdragon S4 Pro. The HTC One also offers a high resolution 4.7 inch 1,080p Full HD Super LCD 3 display, video out connectivity and HTC BlinkFeed feature. BlinkFeed will be a hit with social networking junkies, as it delivers your favorite social networking sites and feeds in a live stream to your home screen.

The front facing camera on the HTC One runs 2.1 megapixels, and 1,080p Full HD video recording is delivered by the rear facing 2.0 UltraPixel camcorder. Android’s Jelly Bean operating system is running the handset out-of-the-box, and the slim profile mentioned earlier measures 0.37 inches (9.3 mm). Corning has given the display a second generation layer of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass, and the phone is also available in a 64 GB model. NFC wireless support is present, YouTube and Picasa applications have been pre-installed, and the handset is capable of operating as a Wi-Fi anchor for multiple wireless devices.
