The European Imaging Sound Association (EISA) has recently announced the winners for its mobile device awards for 2012 – 2013 and we see the HTC One S taking home the Social Media Phone of 2012 – 2013. For the uninitiated, the EISA is a group composed of composed of representative of multimedia magazines from 19 different European countries. Every year, the group selects the best products from certain categories and honors them with the said annual awards.
EISA chose the HTC One S as the Social Media Phone of 2012 – 2013 because the handset’s HTC Sense user interface directly integrates social media functionality making it easier for users of the handset to have access to the various social networking sites. In addition to that, the streamlined design and exceptional build quality of the handset played a major part in bagging the award.
As for the HTC One S, the handset was announced by HTC back in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but the handset only made it to the shelves in April. The HTC One S has dimensions of 130.9 x 65 x 7.8 mm and it tips the scales at a very light 119.5 grams despite its size. Its 7.8 mm waistline though makes it just a hair thicker than the 7.7 mm Motorola Droid Razr. In terms of its design and aesthetics, the HTC One S is very attractive with its sleek design not to mention its build quality that makes it solid as a rock. Also, the ergonomics of the handset make it very comfortable to hold in the hand even for extended periods.
As for its internals, the HTC One S boasts of an impressive resume that includes power-breathing components under its hood. The circuitry of the handset revolves around its QualComm MSM8260A SnapDragon chipset. With its system on a chip configuration, this chipset gives the handset dual-core capabilities with a dual-core Krait processor running at a clock speed of 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM. The HTC One S also comes with a dedicated Adreno 225 graphics core in its internals to handle messy graphical situations.
The storage space onboard the HTC One S comes up to 16GB but the handset does not come with an expandable memory because there is no memory expansion slot in the chassis of the handset. In terms of its display, the handset sports a 4.3-inch SuperAMOLED capacitive multitouch panel with a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. In addition to that, the display of the HTC One S is fashioned from Gorilla Glass so scratches and dings are the least of your worries with this handset. The camera department of the HTC One S is just as impressive with its rear-facing 8MP shooter and front-facing VGA video call camera.
