The HTC One X 4G Android smartphone so captivated the showgoers and analysts at this year’s CTIA 2012 Wireless Industry Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana that it walked away with several awards. One of the more coveted titles the HTC One X took home from that event was the Spotlight Award offered by video dedicated website Videomaker, earned when they called the handset the Best Smartphone of CTIA 2012. The HTC One X delivers the ability to capture snapshots while simultaneously recording high resolution video capture in stereo sound, a feature the One X debuted for the first time in the world on a smartphone. Select retailers recently reduced the price of the HTC One X handset to a $129 starting price.
The handset also delivers Android’s 4.0 operating system Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) out-of-the-box, and it meshes with HTC’s Sense v4.0 UI Android overlay. Slim at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm) and light at 4.55 ounces (129 g), the HTC One X 4G delivers a 4.70 inch display that is one of the largest found on any smartphone. Resolution runs 720 x 1,280 pixels, delivered at 312 pixels per inch to the S–LCD 2 display. Visuals are rendered in more than 16 million different colors, and that screen is protected by an overlay of Corning Gorilla Glass.
The 1,800 mA battery on board the HTC One X delivers above average talk time for a smartphone, supplying 8.50 hours from a single charge, with standby time runs 12.6 days. A Qualcomm MSM8960 microchip package is on board, and is centered around a dual core Krait central processor which has been clocked at 1.5 GHz. Handling all graphics requests is an Adreno 225 GPU, and the handset contains 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of built-in storage.
The simultaneous HD video and image capture mentioned earlier is provided by the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the handset, and the back illuminated sensor (BSI) and LED flash provide for easy low light camera operation. That rear snapper also delivers autofocus, geo-tagging, a high dynamic range mode (HDR) and face and smile detection. Video is captured at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD) and 30 frames per second. The front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam can capture portrait snapshots and provide video call support. In the multimedia package the HTC One X 4G offers, a built-in music player filters by album, artist and play list, and it is joined by a YouTube video player and the full range Beats Audio sound system. The handset also delivers Near Field Communications (NFC) support out-of-the-box. You can buy the HTC One X starting at $129 at select retailers.
