Offered in your choice of either Gray or White, the long-awaited and much-anticipated HTC One X 4G Android smartphone has finally arrived on the new AT&T 4G LTE wireless network. That handset debuts with a $149 price tag on contract at select retailers, and offers one of the largest displays as well as one of the fastest processors delivered by any 4G smartphone. Also delivering the full range Beats by Dr. Dre audio software that HTC purchased a controlling interest in last year, the HTC One X offers an impressive multimedia experience when that high-end sound system works in tandem with the large, high resolution display.

Buy the HTC One X starting at $149.

The handset is extremely thin at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm), and is average in size and shape when compared to other 4G smartphones. Certainly not average is the above-mentioned display, which delivers the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system and Sense 4.0 user interface Android overlay. That 4.70 inch S–LCD 2 screen delivers one of the highest pixel counts of any 4G handset, at 312 pixels per inch pixel density. That results in an overall display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels on the HTC One X, again one of the better offerings when compared to other 4G smartphones. Corning Gorilla Glass overlays the display, providing scratch resistance and glare reduction.

Anchoring the high-end hardware package is a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon microchip set, which includes a dual core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU and Adreno 225 graphics chip. A full 1.0 GB of Ram system memory is present, as well as 16 GB of built-in, user accessible storage. On the software side of the HTC One X, Google integration comes complete with Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk, and the dedicated mic delivers active noise cancellation, voice memo recording, voice dialing and other voice commands.

A 1.3 megapixel chat cam up front allows HTC One X users to snap portrait shots and enjoy placing and receiving video calls, and is joined by a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder in the camera combo. That rear device comes equipped with an LED flash, F2.0 aperture, back-illuminated sensor (BSI), autofocus, geo-tagging, image stabilization and high dynamic range (HDR) mode, while recording video in 1080P HD resolution, and at 30 frames per second.

Capable of simultaneously taking snapshots while recording video in high definition, all videos are recorded in stereo sound. A proprietary YouTube video player joins the built-in music player and the full range Beats audio application in the multimedia package on board the HTC One X. Buy the HTC One X starting at $149, and save $50 over the AT&T direct price.
