htconexplusAs of the moment, the Samsung Galaxy S III is still one of the most sought after handsets in the market today. No contest here – after all, sales figures of the handset has already breached the 40 million mark since getting released during the latter parts of May last year. However, this complete domination of the Samsung Galaxy S III of the smartphone market is not because there is no high-end device from other OEMs that is capable enough in challenging the Samsung flagship device and taking it off of its lofty perch in the smartphone leaderboards.

The HTC One X+ is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $79.99.

In fact, Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC released the HTC One X+ to specifically take the battle to the Samsung Galaxy S III but its lack of a user-replaceable battery and media card slot for memory expansion often put the HTC superphone at a disadvantage. However, this is not to say that the HTC One X+ failed miserably in its battle with the Samsung Galaxy S III. In fact, the HTC One X+ is just as powerful as the Samsung flagship handset and comes with an even more impressive set of components under the hood compared to its predecessor, the HTC One X 4G.

However, flagship device or not, there will come a time when your stint in the shelves will come to an end and this could be the case for the HTC One X+ if certain rumors pan out. We’ve all heard about the HTC M7 so much these past couple of days and word on the street is that it is about to get officially announced at Mobile World Congress in February. However, other rumors indicate that the upcoming flagship device from HTC will be announced in a special event in London.

There has been no confirmation coming from HTC as of the moment regarding this but if the HTC M7 is as good as advertized (or rumored for that matter), then the HTC One X+ will have no choice but to bow down and give way. However, this is not to say that the once flagship device of the Taiwanese manufacturer has reached a point where it has outlived its usefulness. It is in fact the other way around because the HTC One X+ is a fine piece of technology crammed into an uber-sexy handset.

As mentioned earlier, the HTC One X+ is just as powerful as the Samsung Galaxy S III and it draws this power from its NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 chipset. This SoC brings into play a quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and this works in conjunction with a full gigabyte of RAM in coming up with the computing muscle required by the handset for its flawless performance. The handset can be had in a 32GB and a 64GB variant in terms of storage space but a lock of a dedicated media card slot precludes memory expansion of the device. As for its display, the HTC One X+ sports a 4.7-inch SuperLCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its dual-shooter configuration boasts of a rear 8MP shooter and a  1.6MP front snapper.

You can purchase the HTC One X+ at a discounted price tag now starting at $79.99.

  1. Bye bye! HTC makes uninspiring and undesirable phones.
Can’t stand their hardware or software designs.
