The HTC One X is the first handset in the world to deliver simultaneous high resolution HD image and video capture, and is exclusive currently to the AT&T 4G LTE wireless system. That handset recently received a retail price reduction to $169 on contract at select retailers, and recent unofficial news would have made former US president Ronald Reagan extremely happy. Reagan was such a lover of Jelly Beans, a candy he picked up to help him kick his pipe smoking habit, that 3.5 tons of Jelly Bellies were sent to the White House for his 1981 inaugural celebration. No doubt Reagan would have appreciated the recent news that the HTC One X 4G Android smartphone has received the Jelly Bean 4.1 operating system upgrade, unofficially. What is official is the recent price drop at select online retailers down to a starting price of $119 for existing customers, and $169 for new customers.

This is not the officially sanctioned update which Google has announced will be rolling out to the handset, but unofficial operating system updates found on the web generally preface the real thing. The unveiling of Jelly Bean 4.1 occurred at the 2012 Google I/O Conference in San Francisco last week, and the first three devices to receive the Android operating system upgrade will be the Galaxy Nexus 4G, Xoom tablets and Nexus S mobile handsets. The HTC One X was also announced as an eventual recipient of the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS update, though no official date was announced.
As well as being the handset to first offer simultaneous HD image and video capture, the 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the back of the One X handset also delivers snapshot capture in only 0.7 seconds, and the F/2 0 lens is capable of pulling in 40% more light than the standard 4G smartphone camera. A multi-burst mode allows for successive snapshot capture, and that rear snapper is joined by a front facing 1.3 megapixel chat cam in the camera combo.
The full range Beats Audio sound system is on board, and the Android 4.0.3 operating system that is present out-of-the-box meshes with the HTC Sense version 4.0 user interface, and accepts multitouch, capacitive gestures to navigate the handset. The HTC One X is thin at 0.35 inches (8.9 mm), and light for a 4G smartphone at 4.5 ounces (120 g). The large 4.70 inch display provides 720 x 1,280 pixel resolution, and is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Gorilla Glass. The HTC One X delivers above average talk time for a 4G smartphone, at 8.50 hours, and the handset is run by a dual core 1.5 GHz CPU. 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is on board, and Near Field Communications (NFC) wireless technology is also present. Ed, it is $169 for new customers and $119 for existing customers. In order not to make a big list of prices for each different scenario, we list the starting price instead. Hope that helps. Have a great day.
