In today’s smartphone world, handsets powered by quad-core processors under the hood are starting to make their way to the smartphone competition. However, it was HTC who managed to draw first blood in that arena when news about the HTC Edge, the first smartphone in the world to pack a quad-core processor in its internals, came out late last year.

Since then, the HTC Edge went through a couple of name changes only to end up getting announced as the HTC One X back in February at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. As soon as it got released into the market, the HTC One X became the most powerful and most capable device and only the entrance of the Samsung Galaxy S III in the smartphone competition ended the reign of the HTC superphone in the smartphone market.

Despite the seeming power the HTC One X packs under the hood, the handset is not impervious to issues and bugs that hamper its performance. A couple of months ago, it was reported that the handset suffered from a notification bug that prevented the handset from showing in its notification bar that there are incoming messages. The message application badge of the HTC One X also did not show about unread messages so users of the handset had no choice but to launch the message app every once in a while to check for new messages which is annoying to say the least. Not only that, there were reports as well that a hardware failure in the handset caused issues in its Wi-Fi connectivity. These issues however are irrelevant when you delve in to the details of the components lurking under the hood of the handset.

In Canadian shores north of our border, the HTC One X was launched by Rogers three months ago and the carrier has enjoyed exclusivity over the HTC superphone since then. There were rumors that came up in the past that the handset is going to be offered by another carrier, Telus in this case, and we finally got the confirmation that the HTC One X is headed Telus’ way.

As such, the official website of Telus is now showing the product page of the HTC One X although its status is still showing as “Coming Soon”. There has been no indication as to when the handset will hit the shelves of Telus but our sources claim that the HTC One X will become available as early as July 6. All we need to do right now is to wait for any changes in the status of the handset in the carrier’s website. As for its price point, there are no details available in the Telus website as to how much its version of the HTC One X will set you back but we are betting that it will not be far from the $129.99 pricing offered by Rogers on a three-year service agreement.  Buy the HTC One X starting at $119.
