Back in the day, quad-core powered smartphones were mere plans in the drawing boards of smartphone manufacturers. However, HTC made this dream a reality when news of its HTC Edge came out back in the latter parts of 2011. The HTC Edge at that time was already powered by a monster of a quad-core processor under its hood thereby making it the first handset in the world to be powered of a processor of that variety.

The HTC One X+ is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $79.99.

The name HTC Edge however did not stick as we all saw because the handset still went through a couple of name changes before finally settling for the moniker HTC One X when it was unveiled at Mobile World Congress back in February of last year. The handset also made its way to US shelves where it was released by AT&T as the HTC One X 4G. The handset immediately became a hit with the subscribers of AT&T because of the impressive components it had under its hood. Not only that, the handset also was always in the bestsellers list of the wireless provider during the whole time it was offered by the carrier in our side of the world.

However, the HTC One X 4G is already out of the smartphone scene because it is now the time of its successor, the HTC One X+ to shine. The new HTC flagship device is based on the platform of its predecessor but the HTC One X+ boasts of a minor design overhaul to differentiate it from the HTC One X 4G along with a very nice and much needed specs sheet bump up. With the upgrade of its hardware, the HTC One X+ is now in a much better position to battle it out with other flagship devices such as the ever popular Samsung Galaxy S III in the smartphone competition.

The addition of the HTC One X+ to the Android lineup of AT&T was announced back in October and the handset promptly made its debut in the shelves of the carrier a month later in November. There is not much difference in the design and aesthetics of the handset compared to its predecessor except for the fact that its paint job was a bit darker compared to the HTC One X 4G. The handset has dimensions of 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9 mm and it tips the scales at 135 grams.

Under the hood, the HTC One X+ runs Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for its operating system and this is powered by its NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 chipset which comes with a quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and a full gigabyte of RAM. The handset can be had in either 32GB or 64GB model in terms of storage space while its display measures 4.7 inches diagonally and is of the SuperLCD2 variety with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand is composed of a main 8MP shooter at its back panel and a 1.6MP video call and self-portrait snapper in its front bezel.

With its impressive components and even more impressive capabilities, the HTC One X+ is truly one of the best Android-powered handsets being offered by AT&T today. End of discussion.

You can purchase the HTC One X+ for a discounted price tag now starting at $79.99.
