It’s hard to believe the HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone has been operating at the high end of the 4G smartphone marketplace since as far back as November of last year, when it launched on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. Seven months is a virtual eternity in the smartphone marketplace for a handset to be viable, and the HTC Rezound 4G is still one of Verizon’s flagship smartphones.
Buy the HTC Rezound starting at $99.
The device delivers one of the fastest central processors of any mobile handset, extremely high pixel density and screen resolution, high definition video capture, and full range Beats by Dr. Dre audio application. It has been reported that by the end of June or beginning of July, all HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphones will have received an over the air update to the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 operating system.
The 4.30 inch Super LCD display on the HTC Rezound delivers a pixel density of 342 pixels per inch, creating an overall screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, both of those resolution designations coming at the extreme high end of the 4G smartphone marketplace. Video clips and movies viewed on that high resolution screen are complemented by the full range Beats Audio system, and the Rezound ships with a proprietary set of Beats ear buds which contain an in-line microphone and remote control. The HTC Watch application delivers access to thousands of videos and movies for instant viewing without waiting for files to download, further complementing the high resolution display.
Powering the handset is a dual core 1.5 GHz Scorpion central processor that is part of a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon package, which also includes an Adreno 220 chip that handles all graphics processing. The handset comes packed with a full 1.0 GB of RAM system memory and 16 GB of built-in storage. The HTC Rezound also has a microSD slot which allows for storage expansion and offboard data access.
On the back of the handset is an 8.0 megapixel camcorder which provides video capture at a high resolution 1,080P HD and 30 frames per second. The front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam can also provides video call support, and records video at 720P HD. That rear device comes equipped with a dual LED flash, and provides instant snapshot capture, geo-tagging, touch to focus, face detection and image stabilizing features. The multimedia set on board the HTC Rezound includes a proprietary YouTube video player, and the above referenced full range Beats Audio software with RDS. Buy the HTC Rezound starting at $99.

Verizon does not have unlimited data, and is whacking anyone grandfathered in. Streaming radio takes up precious BYTES. A full programming day of dubstep on turntable.fm is at least a couple hundred MB.
When you get off of your parents’ plan and have to pay for your own bill, that $50-$100 extra overcharge per month might make a difference to ya. Just sayin. Thank you.

1. The Rezound doesn’t have built-in FM Radio. And to those who cared to use it in other devices (ie, Droid X) it was a really nice addition. It used the headphones as an antenna, and performed at least twice as good as any vehicle antenna in my experiences. It also had next to no power drain. Very nice for those times when some tunes would be nice, and you didn’t want to load a playlist, or kill your batt.
2. Why is Verizon “whacking” grandfathered unlimited data plans? Sure, they’re not actively offering unlimited anymore. Not many other carriers are either. I’ve got unlimited data, and have had it on 3G devices for years. I noticed that they started throttling data somewhere around the 2GB mark for awhile now. I asked about it, and all 3G devices get throttled when the network becomes “congested”.
Regardless, I just upgraded to my Rezound, have retained my unlimited data, was offered unlimited mobile hotspot, and have no throttling wether I’m on a 1x, 3G, or 4G connection!
As far as starting a new contract and losing it… They don’t offer it, and new contract’s won’t get it. You can’t go anywhere else and get any better treatment. (Unless you gripe to Customer Support enough. You can get anything you want from any carrier that way.)
