If you happen to have an HTC Rezound 4G for your mobile weapon of choice and are closely following the news about the Ice Cream Sandwich plans for the handset, then you most probably have heard of reports that came out last week that Verizon is about to complete the testing phase for the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the handset by May 7 which was a couple of days ago. In addition to that, there are also rumors that the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the HTC Rezound 4G will get rolled out by May 9.

Sad to say, there are still no details about the supposed ICS update for the HTC Rezound 4G coming up on the official support site of the wireless provider but we are still keeping our eyes peeled on any development regarding that. Before the official ICS update lands on the handset, we see another leaked ICS build for the HTC Rezound 4G surface yet again. If you happen to always tinker with your handset and flashing leaked ICS ROMs onto your device, then you are probably aware that there are already a couple of ICS builds for the handset that surfaced in the past but this latest leak has a version of 3.14.605.5 while its build date puts it at April 28.
This most recent leaked ICs build for the HTC Rezound 4G brings a couple of improvements (and several drawbacks as well) to the handset. The most notable among the goodies that the leaked ICS build brings along with it are the updated radios. In addition to that, the update also separates the lock screen shortcut settings from the launcher bar shortcuts. Also, the 3G / 4G icon will also get displayed before a user enters the decryption password and the timer value of its IPv6 solicitation will also get changed.
As for the drawback that this particular ICS build, the HTC Rezound 4G’s hidden menu which can be accessed by dialing *#*#4636#*#* that lets you use the handset on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks has been removed. So if you happen to occasionally use your HTC Rezound 4G on the said carriers, you are well advised to leave this leaked ICS build alone for that matter. Should you still be interested in trying it out, you need to have S-OFF and a stock ROM running on your HTC Rezound 4G for that matter.
For the uninformed, the HTC Rezound 4G is powered by a QualComm MSM8660 Snapdragon chipset that gives the handset a dual-core Scorpion processor running at 1.5 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM under the hood. The internal storage of the handset is pegged at 16GB but this is still expandable to as much as 32GB and Verizon has included a 16GB media card in the retail package of the handset for memory expansion purposes. The display of the HTC Rezound 4G on the other hand is a 4.3-inch SuperLCD panel with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels while its camera department equips the handset with a main 8MP shooter at its back panel and a 2MP webcam at its front panel. I have just gotten off the phone with their Corporate folks as they were not to impressed with me for filing a complaint with the FCC because of my coverage or should I say lack there of. From what she told me after all the legal mubo jumbo was that the coverage map which was not so well done is only a maybe for coverage as their are 3 little fine print exclusions on the WEB.
I conveyed to her that if you tell me I have 4g and 3g and I move my phone on my nightstand 1 inch either way I loose the 4g. If I move it the other way I lose 3g and the phone locks up till I go into airplane mode and and back out. According to her I am on the fringe of the signals and they are sharing their signal with anouther carrier. In other words tough roller skates. And then to have the audasity to charge me an extra $30.00 to change out the old home phone connect for the newer one that you can get an extended antenea for. Get rid of theold inventory and charge for the upgrade or switch and bait. I urge everyone to file with the FCC individually and hold Verizon to task, I told her I would continue to persue this with the FCC till my area was fixed.
I have a Rezound that is stock. Plus for some reason when I tried to log back into this site I have to unlock my Account as it had been locked for some reason. Wonder who would have done such a thing to me especially after a phone call from Verizon Corporate. ( HUMMMM )

Dennis your an idiot…. you are on a fringe area of 4g at your house. unfortunately you will have to deal with that until another tower is built near you. turn off your 4g and deal with it. technology is constantly changing and unfortunately you bought your home phone connect before the new one was available to you… why should verizon take a hit just to keep you “up to date” with the newest hardware?

I spoke with Verizon Advanced tech support today regarding HTC rezound ics update and they advised me there is no update until May 12th and it will not be an ics update. This week the htc trophy and one other device will receive it. Rezound is not receiving it anytime soon.

Tim – Did the Verizon rep also tell you that the Trophy is a Windows phone? rofl. It’s concerning Verizon has a top tier tech support person telling you that.

Tim… This sounds suspiciously like the story I read on AndroidForums last month, except that that person said “Trophy and Rhyme.” If you are the same person, I suggest you stop with these troll posts. If not, I suggest that you stop reading AndroidForums.
