With an SRS WOW HD sound enhancement, a built-in music player, Beats Audio package, a YouTube video player and extremely high-end pixel density of 342 pixels per inch, the HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone is a multimedia lover’s dream. Launching on November 14 of last year on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE system, the HTC Rezound delivered on the more than $30 million investment that smartphone manufacturer HTC made when they bought a controlling interest in the full range Beats by Dr. Dre audio system.

Verizon recently lowered the retail price of the HTC Rezound 4G to $99 on contract at select retailers, and a recent Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) over the air update proclamation appeared on the HTC website this week, but offered no exact dates. The display runs 4.30 inches and offers one of the highest resolutions of any smartphone at 720 x 1,280 pixels, and that Super LCD screen benefits from light and proximity sensors which automatically adjust for the best possible display brightness, and conserve battery life.

The hardware package on board the HTC Rezound includes a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon microchip set that is centered around a speedy dual core 1.5 GHz Scorpion central processor. A separate Adreno 220 GPU focuses entirely on graphics processing, and the handset delivers 1.0 GB of RAM system memory. 16 GB of storage come built in, and the microSD slot offers microSDHC support as well, accepting cards up to 32 GB in size for storage expansion. The HTC Rezound 4G comes fully integrated with Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk and Picasa applications pre-installed. The handset also includes a loudspeaker that supports hands-free voice dialing, voice memo recording and other voice commands.

On the back of the HTC Rezound 4G is located an 8.0 megapixel camcorder with dual LED flash that captures video at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1,080p HD) and 30 frames per second. That rear facing camcorder provides image stabilization, instant image capture, geo-tagging, touch to focus and autofocus features, as well as stereo sound recording. Up front is a 2.0 megapixel chat cam which is capable of 720p HD video capture at 60 frames per second, and it also offers video call support and portrait snapshot capabilities. Video out is made possible through the on board microUSB slot which is also used to charge the handset, as well as wirelessly offered through DLNA technology.  Buy the HTC Rezound starting at $99.

  1. Dang! Just got this phone for $150 a few days ago from Verizon. Oh well, love the phone!

  2. Don’t hesitate to contact Verizon. They reduced the price by $100 a week after I purchased mine, and I contacted customer support and asked for a refund of the difference. They were very cordial and credited the $100 to my account with no fuss. Best of Luck. Ron Paul 2012!
