The HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone arrived on Verizon’s 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless broadband network on November 14. That handset takes advantage of a licensing agreement reached earlier in the year between consumer electronics maker HTC and Hip Hop and Rap legend Dr. Dre. The new Beats by Dr. Dre audio software application has arrived on the smartphone in the United States for the first time in the HTC Rezound Android smartphone with 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS. The handset also comes with a customized set of red ear buds that includes an in-line remote control and microphone, made specifically for use with the Beats by Dr. Dre audio program.
And that point has been the focus of much of the advertising by Verizon. What hasn’t been mentioned, and what could actually have the most important and long-lasting positive effect on the most HTC Rezound buyers is the fact that the phone arrives on Verizon’s 4G LTE with the fastest processor on that wireless platform to date. Clocked at 1.5 GHz, the HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone employs a Qualcomm MSM 8660 Snapdragon chip set, a dual core Scorpion processor and Adreno 220 graphics processing unit.
Comparing apples to apples, the HTC Thunderbolt earlier this year actually recorded the fastest up and download speeds ever seen on a mobile handset on Verizon’s 4G LTE. That phone contains a single core 1.0 GHz processor, so the significance of the 50% faster dual core chip is obvious. 1.0 GB of RAM memory and 16 GB of onboard storage space are also present in the handset.

An SRS WOW HD sound enhancement accompanies the beats by Dr. Dre audio out, and an FM stereo player is also on board. Accompanying video and audio players support all major file formats, and a YouTube video player has also been added. Messaging is supported by SMS, MMS, Threaded view and Predictive text input file formats, and all major e-mail programs are supported as well.
The 4.30 inch capacitive touch screen supports multitouch gestures and delivers 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The HTC Rezound offers a rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder which records video in 1080P HD, and offers LED flash and autofocus features. A front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam is also on board. That front facing chat cam can also be used for video call placement, and shoots video in 720P HD resolution. The HTC Rezound also offers mobile hotspot functionality.
