The HTC Rezound 4G was the first smartphone from that consumer electronics manufacturer to deliver on their $35 million controlling interest purchase of the Beats by Dr. Dre audio platform. Anxious to recoup their investment, they packaged the HTC Rezound 4G with the full range Beats Audio software, and the handset even comes with an integrated black and red set of Beats ear buds, equipped with an in-line mic and hands-free remote control.
With that remote, Pause, Stop, Advance and Rewind music ontrols can be used in the middle of a voice call. The handset is also noteworthy because it contains one of the fastest processors in the entire 4G smartphone marketplace, high-resolution video capture, and is receiving the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) 4.0 Android operating system in a free over the air upgrade by the end of June.
The HTC Rezound 4G Android handset delivers a 4.30 inch display whose resolution ranks at the very high-end of the smartphone market when compared with any other smartphone, with an extremely high pixel density of 342 pixels per inch. That endows the Super LCD capacitive, multitouch display with an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. Light and proximity sensors are built in, and offer auto brightness adjustment as well as battery conservation.
A Qualcomm MSM8660 microchip package is used to power the handset, and that includes a dual core Scorpion central processing unit that has been clocked at 1.5 GHz, as well as an Adreno 220 GPU that handles all graphics processing. The Rezound delivers a substantial amount of RAM system memory, at 1.0 GB, and includes 16 GB of storage built-in. MicroSD and microUSB ports are also on board.
The high-resolution camera combo on the HTC Rezound resembles that of the Galaxy S II handset line, with the rear mounted 8.0 megapixel camcorder providing 1,920 x 1,080 pixel (1,080p HD) video capture. That rear snapper also delivers a dual LED flash, ISO control, special preloaded scenes, a special effects package, white balance, geo-tagging, image stabilization, instant image capture and autofocus features. The front facing 2.0 megapixel chat cam is capable of 720P HD video capture and video call functionality, as well as capturing portrait snapshots.
In the multimedia package on board the HTC Rezound 4G, the full range, high-end Beats Audio software suite joins a proprietary YouTube video player, Stereo FM radio with RDS and built-in music player that supports all major file formats.
