When you take a look at the Android-powered smartphones in the lineup of Verizon, the HTC Rezound 4G is actually one of the more capable devices in the said lineup. In fact, some even say that the handset is one of the best smartphones that the wireless provider is offering. When you come to think of it, the HTC Rezound 4G has always been pitted against the ICS-packing Samsung Galaxy Nexus but always had to be content with being in the second spot for the sole reason that it still is stuck in the Gingerbread generation while the Google flagship device is already running the latest version of the Android operating system.
However, it has already been confirmed by both Verizon and HTC that the HTC Rezound 4G will in fact get upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Sad to say, no exact timeframe was given by either of the two but users of the handset were reassured that the ICS update for the HTC Rezound 4G will get rolled out by late June or early July. Apparently, there are speculations as of press time that the much-awaited ICS update for the handset will in fact land earlier than expected.
The source of these speculations is the fact that another ICS build for the HTC Rezound 4G has managed to make its way to the internet. Of course, if you can’t wait for the official ICS update to land, you always have the option to tinker with your device so long as you are aware that doing so will turn your warranty to toast. Those who are brave enough who have already done so reported that the leaked ICS ROM for the HTC Rezound 4G had a build number of 3.14.605.10 and only brought minor changes to the handset. The leaked ROM came with several fixes though such as the fix for the SMS thread issue and data widget problems of the handset.
Taking a closer look at the leaked ICS build, the guys over at XDA-developers are saying that since the changes are very minor, there is a big probability that the ICS update for the HTC Rezound 4G is already maturing and could probably be nearing release. Does this mean that we can expect the official ICs update to land on the HTC Rezound 4G? Nobody can say at this point but ICS or on ICS, the HTC Rezound 4G is still one of the best handsets in the market today.
As for the HTC Rezound 4G, the handset has a QualComm MSM86660 SnapDragon chipset under the hood. The computing power needed by the handset on the other hand is generated by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor with a little help from a full gigabyte of RAM. The HTC Rezound 4G comes with an onboard storage pegged at 16GB in addition to a preinstalled 16GB microSD card for memory expansion. Its display on the other hand measures 4.3 inches and is of the SuperLCd variety with a 1280 x 720 resolution. It also comes with an impressive shooting department with its rear 8MP shooter and 2MP front-facer. Select online retailers are offering the HTC Rezound 4G starting at $99.
