Good news and better news is on slate for HTC Rezound 4G Android smartphone customers, especially for those who have been waiting to purchase the device. Since earlier this year, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system has been officially announced to transfer over the air to the HTC Rezound smartphone. However, neither Google nor Verizon, the 4G LTE exclusive home of the HTC Rezound, would be pinned down on a specific date or roll-out time-slot. That all changed recently when HTC updated their website list of ICS updates to their devices, and showed the HTC Rezound set to receive ICS 4.0 sometime from mid-June to mid-July.
If that is not enough good news for HTC Rezound buyers, prospective purchasers of the prodigious HTC Rezound handset can pat themselves on their backs for waiting until now. Verizon recently reduced the retail price of the HTC Rezound 4G to $79 with a standard new two-year contract and data plan at select retailers. The handset was the first to deliver the full range Beats Audio sound system to a US smartphone, and the HTC Rezound actually comes with an integrated pair of iBeats ear buds that accompany the handset. Those ear buds contain an in-line remote control and wireless microphone, allowing the Rezound user to pause, rewind and fast-forward music selections when answering a call, and also to place hands-free voice calls.
The handset also deserves mention for its extremely high end pixel density of 342 pixels per inch, which makes for an overall display resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. The HTC Sense user interface meshes with Android’s Gingerbread operating system out-of-the-box, and accepts multitouch, capacitive gestures for navigating the device. An SRS WOW HD sound enhancement joins Beats Audio in the multimedia package on board the Rezound 4G, which also includes a proprietary YouTube video player, and built-in music player.
HTC chose a Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon microchip package to handle operations on the handset, and that includes a dual core 1.5 GHz Scorpion CPU and graphics specific Adreno 220 GPU. 16 GB of storage are built into the HTC Rezound, and a 16 GB microSD card ships with the handset, providing the most out-of-the-box, user accessible storage of any 4G smartphone at 32 GB. 1.0 GB of RAM system memory is also on board, and the rear facing 8.0 megapixel camcorder provides video capture at 1,080P HD resolution. A 2.0 megapixel chat cam is located on the front of the device. Buy the HTC Rezound starting at $79.
