Whenever Google release a new version of its mobile operating system, in this case Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which dropped late last year, it is to be expected that unbranded and unlocked versions of any smartphone tend to get first dibs on the update while their carrier-branded counterparts get the update much later for that matter. In the case of Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer HTC, it announced late last year that the first handset in its lineup to get the latest Android version will be the HTC Sensation.
This was to be expected since at that time the announcement was made, the HTC Sensation was the flagship handset of the manufacturer. As for the T-Mobile variant of the HTC Sensation 4G though, it was a given that this carrier-specific version of the handset will experience a little delay before it gets a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich. In fact, the delays became unbearable that users of the handset on the Magenta carrier has accused the wireless provider of intentionally delaying the rollout of the update for the device to boost the sales of the HTC One S which already packed ICS for its default operating system.
A representative of the Magenta carrier spoke up and confirmed that the delays were inevitable because there still were a couple of things in the ICS update for the HTC Sensation 4G that needed sorting out but the carrier had every intention of unleashing the update once it is as perfect as it can be. And now, we have a date to go along with that claim if the leaked roadmap of the Magenta carrier that recently surfaced is to be believed.
According to the leaked roadmap, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC Sensation 4G can be expected to land on June 16 and if this rumor turns out to be more than what it seems as of the moment, then users of the handset will definitely get an extra hot summer for that matter. Hopefully, everything in the leaked roadmap pans out especially the long-awaited ICS update for the HTC Sensation 4G especially that users of the handset are already disgruntled at not having a fine device get the latest version of Android running in its circuitry. To ease the burden of waiting, we leave with you with the specs sheet of the handset to keep you company.
The HTC Sensation 4G is all power under the hood with its QualComm MSM8260 SnapDragon chipset while the snappy performance of the handset s courtesy of its dual-core 1.2 GHz Scorpion processor and 768 MB of RAM. Though the internal storage of the handset only comes up to 1GB, this is still expandable to as much as 32GB and T-Mobile throws in an 8GB microSD card just for this purpose. In terms of its display, the HTC Sensation 4G comes with a 4.3-inch SuperLCD panel with a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels while its camera department outfits the smartphone with an 8MP autofocus shooter with dual-LED flash at its back panel while its front panel is home to the handset’s VGA snapper.
