Startling new research in the mobile marketplace shows that phones like the HTC Windows Phone 8X, appropriately named, are helping the mobile Windows Phone operating system grow faster than Android. Android is still far and away the most pervasive of all the smartphone operating systems, with Apple obviously in second place. But the Windows Phone OS has captured a full 5.6% of the US mobile phone market share, and that is nothing to sneeze at. The Windows Phone OS is even growing at a faster rate than Android.
The HTC 8X 4G Windows Phone Black is available for a reduced sale price now starting at $49.99.
Kantar Worldpanel ComTech is a research firm which many times throughout the year releases reports on the mobile industry. And their recent revelation concerning the first quarter of 2013 as well as last year shows Android with a full 51.7% of the mobile market operating system share. But Microsoft and their increasingly popular Windows phone operating system grew at a rate of 1.8% over the previous years numbers. During that same time period Android grew 1.4%. And while the Apple iOS is growing at a rate of 2.3%, they lag far behind Android in overall coverage with 41.4% of smartphones sales during the same time frame.
Obviously with 5.6% of the US market, the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system is not causing Android and Apple any tremors quit yet. But the growth of the operating system, pushed by handsets like the HTC Windows Phone 8X, is nothing but good news for Microsoft. Bear in mind that seeing significant growth year-over-year means that Microsoft, with their nearly bottomless finances, will definitely grow the Windows Phone operating system and add new features and applications.
Windows Phone applications now number more than 145,000, and with the HTC Windows Phone 8X priced at around $49 on contract, the handset is instantly more attractive than some of the big-name bestsellers with three digit price tags. That bargain bin or entry-level price belies the fact that the HTC Windows Phone 8X offers outstanding features like Beats Audio sound enhancement, unique color options, global GSM and UMTS network access, extremely high pixel density and an outstanding camera package.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X offers a 4.30 inch display with resolution of 720 by 1,280 pixels, and that screen is protected by a scratch resistant layer of Gorilla Glass 2. A dual core 1.5 GHz CPU is on board, as is 1.0 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage space. Both front and rear cameras on the handset offer a new ultra-wide-angle 88 degree capture capability, and the rear 8.0 megapixel camcorder on the Windows Phone 8X from HTC provides 1,080P HD video capture, very fast capture times, and a dedicated shutter key. As long as smartphones like the HTC Windows Phone 8X continue to offer excellent features with the Windows Phone OS choice, that OS will continue to grow in popularity.
