Smartwatches are up and coming this year and it will not be a surprise when each and every mobile company comes to the market with one. Apple is also reportedly going to be releasing one this year, but there are already some on the market today. Samsung is about to release the next generation model for the Galaxy Gear, Pebble is releasing another version of its smartwatch, LG is getting into the market and now another company is reportedly going to be bringing a smartwatch to the Mobile World Congress event this month in Spain.
According to an online source, Huawei is going to be coming to the Mobile World Congress event with a new product. That new product can be worn on your wrist and will fit right into the smartwatch category nicely. Details surrounding the smartwatch are not very heavy at this point, so those that are interested are going to have to wait until the event that starts on the 24th of February. Emails and questions sent to Huawei reps were not answered and there is very little information given about the product. The smartwatch is not the only product the company is bringing with it either.
More reports that surfaced this week indicate that Huawei will also be coming to the show with a new smartphone and two tablets. With those other three devices, there is also little information to go on. Huawei released the Ascend P6 last year and the one thing the company did mention is that the new smartphone will not be replacing the device. According to the company, the smartphone will be released later this year at an event dedicated to it. The tablets would most likely fit into the entry level category and compete against other 7-inch models.
Even though other companies like Google, LG, Apple and Samsung have had their hands in the smartwatch market for some time; it is a surprise to hear that Huawei is thinking about releasing a product into that category. Because consumers are still getting used to the wearable technology that comes with smartwatches or products like Google Glass, it is hard to determine how the products will do in the real world market. Huawei is generally a quiet company in the United States, but they have released some decent hardware, so it will be interesting to see how the smartwatch phase works out for them.
