When it rains, it pours. This seems to be the case with Verizon Wireless with the carrier going on an ICS update roll these past couple of days. The carrier started things out with the rollout of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to its version of the Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2 last week and with the proverbial iron still hot, the wireless provider is striking again with the news that it is about to release the Android 4.0 refresh to its variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7.
Nope, don’t get too excited just yet – Verizon hasn’t started to rollout yet but the changelog of the refresh along with other pertinent support documents are no live and up and running in the official support site of the wireless provider. With this in play, this is actually a good sign that the ICs update for the 7.7-inch Samsung tablet is just around the corner and will land before you know it.
The whole ICS update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 weighs in at a massive 283 MB so it is best to have this downloaded via Wi-Fi for that matter. The update will crank up the software version of the Samsung slate to PL10 and will come with the following treats and goodies in tow:
- New layout for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7’s home screen
- Video calling over both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE
- Improved layout of Settings
- Data usage monitor
- Simple calculator for portrait mode that gets converted to scientific calculation in landscape mode
- Advanced email search
- Quick panel updates to include power saving
- Sync and driving mode
- Redesigned Gallery application with photo editor
- Read receipt and deliver receipt of emails
- Quick response option to messages
- Meeting invitation in Exchange
- Undo and redo options when composing an email
Of course, the following features associated with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich are also included:
- Face Unlock
- Pinch to zoom in main menu and home screen
- Google+ integration
- Updated music app
- Desktop view option for web browser
With the tablet about to get its tasty treat of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 can be expected to become better and more capable that it already is.
As for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, the circuitry of the tablet in its internals is built around its Exynos 4212 chipset which brings dual-core capabilities to the slate courtesy of its dual-core 1.4 GHz Arm Cortex-A9 processor and 1GB of RAM. The tablet is available in 16GB and 32GB in terms of built-in memory with the option for memory expansion made possible by its microSD card slot. Display-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 sports a 7.7-inch SuperAMOLED Plus panel with a 1280 x 800 resolution while its camera department features a main 3.15MP shooter at its back panel while its front bezel is home to its front-facing 2MP video call and self-portrait camera.

Well, here we are 10 days later, and still no ICS on our 7.7 devices. So sad…..

And still no update and no hope of one in foreseeable future. Verizon has customers locked in, their own agreement grants them the right to promise things one minute then retract them next. All us myself included who were sucker enough to sign contracts should learn from this. Money rules now days and customer service don’t exist
