When Acer bared its ICS update plans for the tablets in its lineup, the manufacturer confirmed that the Acer Iconia Tab A100 and Iconia Tab A500 will finally gets their tasty treat of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on April 27. The update went as scheduled for the bigger A500 tablet but a third of May has already passed and but it looks like there were issues in the rollout of the ICS update for the smaller Acer Iconia Tab A100 because only a handful of users were actually able to update their Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablets to the latest version of the Android operating system.
Recent reports however claim that Acer has finally managed to iron out all the wrinkles in terms of the efficient rollout of the ICS update for the Acer Iconia Tab A100 and there are claims from the users of the tablet that the official Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the tablet is now being rolled out on a mass scale. Other users on the other hand claim that their Acer Iconia Tab A100 will first get the refresh to Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb and then get upgraded to the latest Iteration of the Google operating system for mobile devices.
The official ICS update for the Acer Iconia Tab A100 is being rolled out via OTA so if you haven’t received the notification on your slate that lets you know of the availability of the update itself, you might want to go through the Menu > About tablet > Update > Software update to manually check if your Acer Iconia Tab A100 is lucky enough to have the ICS update. It is advised though that if you are to download and apply the ICs update on your tablet, do so via a Wi-Fi connection as it is a lot faster and would only eat up about 30 minutes of your time for that matter. Before you get too excited though, please take time to make a backup of your tablet before proceeding to the update process itself.
If you happen to still be waiting for the notification to come up on your tablet or a manual check did not turn up anything yet, stay loose. You will definitely get the ICS update in due time so while waiting for that to happen, we are leaving you with the specs sheet of the Acer Iconia Tab A100 to keep you company. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 packs an NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 chipset under the hood and this brings a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1 GHz and a full gigabyte of RAM to the device. The tablet was released in an 8GB and 16GB model in terms of storage space and this is still expandable up to 32GB.
