When Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer Samsung first revealed its plans of the ICS updates that it will roll out to the handsets in its tablets, the manufacturer confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Note along with the Samsung Galaxy  S II will be the first devices that will get the upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Galaxy S II proceeded to getting its taste of the latest iteration of the Google mobile operating system but the massive Samsung Galaxy Note phablet will have to wait a little longer because the ICS update for the device got postponed to Q2 of the current year. The wait is made worthwhile though as Samsung announced that a Premium Suite of applications designed to let you teak full advantage of the S-Pen stylus of the Samsung Galaxy Note will be included in the ICS update for the phablet.

As for the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy Note in US shores, Samsung already confirmed that the AT&T variant of the phablet will also get upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich and this was confirmed by the wireless carrier as well. In addition to that, we also saw a couple of leaked ICS builds for the phablet find their way to the internet but until now, users of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note are still waiting for the ICS update for the phablet to get released.

We still are in the dark as to when exactly AT&T and Samsung will finally unleash the ICs update for the phablet but there are strong indications that the wireless provider could probably be close to finalizing its update plans because the carrier was caught showing off an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at the ongoing CTIA expo in New Orleans.

Our smartphone-crazed brethren who managed to see the display swore that the Samsung Galaxy Note at CTIA looked like it was running Gingerbread because a lot of TouchWIZ are still dominant in the user interface of the phablet. Only upon closer inspection will it get revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Note was indeed running a version of Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich for its operating system. And to make the wait more bearable, we have the specs sheet of the Samsung Galaxy Note from AT&T below to keep you company.

The first thing that catches your attention is the massive size of the Samsung Galaxy Note. This goes even deeper when you look at the components under the hood of the phablet with a QualComm MSM8660 SnapDragon chipset powering its operation. To deliver the computing muscles it needs, the phablet has a dual-core 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor and 1GB of RAM to do exactly that while its internal storage, which is expandable to as much as 32GB using its microSD card slot, is pegged at 16GB.

The claim to fame however of the Samsung Galaxy Note is its gigantic 5.3-inch SuperAMOLED display with its resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It also comes with an impressive camera department featuring an 8MP shooter at its back panel while a 2MP webcam can be found in the front bezel of the phablet.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy Note starting at $229.

  1. Actually you can expand the Samsung Note for AT&T to 64GB micdrosd. Works beautifully in mine, just needs to be formatted through the phone ahead of time.
