In the greater scheme of things in the Android ecosystem, Google developer devices are always first in line to receive the update to the latest version of the Google mobile operating system. This is because these devices run a fully stock version of the handset with no overlaid custom UI atop their OS to complicate and interfere with the update process. In fact, we’ve already seen Android 4.1 Jelly Bean land on several of these Google developer devices and while other OEMs have already released their Jelly Bean plans.

The sad part here is that while most of the high-end devices in the market today are already looking forward to get a taste of Jelly Bean sooner or later, there still are a couple of high-end devices stuck in the Gingerbread and Honeycomb generation and wanting to move to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Once such device is the Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 but at least, users of the tablet will no longer have to wait very long for the ICS update to land on their devices because the Android 4.0 refresh is already about to land on the tablet very soon.

This much was confirmed when the details and changelog of the ICS update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 were posted in the official support site of the carrier. We all know for a fact that whenever Verizon is about to release a new software update to any of the devices in its lineup, it always makes it a point to post the details of the update in its support site so users of the said device will be made aware that an update is slated to land on their device. Also, this is an indication that the update is about to get released soon which is the case with the ICS refresh for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The ICS update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 weighs in at approximately 248 MB and will crank up the firmware of the tablet to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich while at the same time giving its software version a jump to i905.LP11. Since this going out via OTA, check your tablet for that little notification or better yet, do a manual check yourself by going to Settings > About device > System updates.

As for the Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, the tablet relies on its NVIDIA Tegra 2 T20 chipset to power its operations while at the same time giving it a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1 GHz, a full gigabyte of RAM and a dedicated ULP GeForce GPU. It was made available in a 16GB and 32GB version in terms of storage space while its PLS TFT display measures 10.1 inches and packs a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand features a rear 3.15MP shooter and a front 2MP snapper.
