Just last week, a post on the official FaceBook page of Samsung Norway indicated that the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Samsung Galaxy Note will be postponed to Q2. The announcement came as a surprise given the fact that the Korean smartphone and tablet manufacturer has just started rolling out the latest version of the Android mobile operating system to its flagship handset, the Samsung GalaxyS II. This is also somewhat frustrating to users of the Samsung Galaxy Note worldwide because Samsung has repeatedly promised that the ICS update for the phablet will land before April.

More recently, Samsung has unfortunately confirmed the delay and though the announcement is perceived to be a bad news to those eagerly awaiting the update, it came wrapped in good news to at least appease the users of the phablet that were clearly disappointed with the delay. That being said, Samsung has already confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich for the Samsung Galaxy Note will see a worldwide release in Q2 which basically means that the update should reach the carriers between the months of April and June. Of course, the availability and release date of the upgrade will depend on the requirements of the wireless providers but since the Samsung Galaxy Note is exclusively being offered by AT&T in US shores, we are hoping that the ICs update won’t take too long in reaching the AT&T variant of the phablet.
In addition to that, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy Note will also bring the Premium Suite to the phablet. This will add more applications to the phablet, apps which are designed to take advantage of the S-Pen stylus of the phablet and these apps include S Note and My Story in addition to the enhancements to the Memo feature that the update brings. And while waiting for more word on the ICS update for the Samsung Galaxy Note, let us go through the specs sheet of the phablet in the meantime.
The original version of the Samsung Galaxy Note was released in October but the AT&T variant of the phablet saw a US release last January. Because it is a cross between a phone and a tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note is very massive and comes with the heft expected in a device of its size. it has fire-breathing components under its hood with its circuitry revolving around an Exynos chipset that brings dual-core capabilities to the phablet via its ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. Its system memory is pegged at 1GB while its expandable onboard storage is pegged at 16GB. In terms of its display, you get to enjoy extra screen real estate with the massive 5.3-inch SuperAMOLED display of the Samsung Galaxy Note with its 1280 x 800 resolution. It also comes equipped with an 8MP shooter at the back while a 2MP webcam graces its front.
If you happen to be interested in trying out what the Samsung Galaxy Note brings to the table, the phablet can be had at select AT&T authorized retailers for only $249.99 with a two-year agreement with AT&T. Buy the Samsung Galaxy Note starting at $249.
