Apple’s operating system can do just about anything, but there is one thing that Android has over Apple and I don’t mean the market share. There is a study out that says Android has the best “app loyalty” than any other operating system on the market today. The report comes from an app marketing firm called Fiksu and the numbers come from over 4 billion app actions the firm has tracked.
The first and most interesting number from the study says that an Android user is twice as likely to stick with an app after it is downloaded, than an Apple iOS user. That same user is also 10 times more likely to load the app than a user on the Apple iOS, according to the report. The main focus for Fiksu is to help developers get their apps noticed and to connect their advertising campaigns over more than one channel. Big brands also count on the firm to get their apps to the masses in a timely manner.
The firm takes a look at how many times an app is downloaded and also how many times a user loads the app after the download. Those two things are taken into effect when the report is talking about loyalty. With over 4 billion actions you might think that was a lot of apps that were tracked, but actually, those four billion actions came from only 10 apps that were distributed among the 2 operating systems. There is a bit of brand loyalty here that helps Android, but Fiksu CEO Micah Adler says, “It is not just that the Android users are more likely to convert to loyal users, but that it is the case by a large margin, 100% more likely to convert than are iOS users.”
With that being said, Adler also mentioned that the loyalty might come because it is harder to find an app with Android, so once a user finds something they like, they tend to want to stick with it. The information from the report could be very valuable to marketers that can create an app people want and know they will get the loyalty when launching it on Android OS.
