There has been a recent wave of rumors about the alleged new iPhone 5 that is likely to hit the stores sometime this year all across the internet, from various sources. Some of them are more reliable than others and some actually have what can be termed evidence. One of the more recent allegations about the iPhone actually showed images of what is being called the front panel of the phone. These panels make room for a larger screen, which can only mean that the iPhone 5 is going to have a larger display than the current version of the phone.
The images of the front panel of the phone show a bit more detail than just the larger display. The front facing camera meant for Face Time is placed above the center of the earpiece and these images look a lot like a set of leaked photos that were released on the internet a while ago. In May, earlier this year, photos of the front panel showing a larger screen and a metallic back were posted and around the same time, reports from the Wall Street Journal citing informed sources said that the new iPhone is going to have a 4” display. This means that the most recent images, though unreliable in nature might just turn out to be true.
Several other stories pertaining to the iPhone 5 have been making rounds but they are of rather doubtful repute. One of them claims that the phone is going to be released on August 7th and claims to be sourced from a “reliable industry source”. However, this is highly unlikely and we just need a bit of logic to judge that. Apple has officially announced that the iOS 6 will be released this fall, which usually means much later than August. Unless Apple is going to release the new phone without the iOS, which is rather counter productive, or give the iPhone 5 a headstart in terms of the new OS, the August release is unlikely. This is in tandem with Apple’s history where it released a new device and OS at around the same time, using the new features of the software to its advantage.
Rumors about mass production of the iPhone 5 have been surfacing recently and these seem likely as there will need to be an inventory before sales begin. However that shouldn’t be taken as a sign for imminent release.
