It’s a battle between two smart phone giants and a company that’s desperately trying to keep fort in the high-end smart phone market. The highly anticipated iPhone 5 goes up against a formidable Samsung Galaxy S III.
The iPhone retains large elements of its previous design, but now including a new metal back that robs it of a little class. In contrast, the Lumia 920 with its vibrant colors stands out impressively. The S III on the other hand feels pretty good when held, but the glossy plastic finish lacks quality. However, the phone seems sturdy enough. On the whole, while the iPhone’s similar design still takes the cake, the Lumia 920’s colorful unibody statement seems pretty good.
Screen quality:
The S III sports a HD 4.8 inch AMOLED Screen with a resolution of 306 pixels per inch. While the large screen offers a good experience for watching videos and reading, the glare is a problem. The iPhone 5 however is placed better with 326 pixels per inch, and Apple claims its sRGB display delivers better color saturation. The Lumia 920 has a 4.5 inch PureMotion HD+ Display, which produces a brilliant color resolution of 332 pixels per inch, with a classy ClearBlack Display. Summing up, the Nokia Lumia 920 wins this round with pure force of numbers.
Camera:
All phones have fantastic cameras, and though the enhanced iPhone camera experience should usually stand out as the best, with low-light performance and a new panorama shooting mode. The Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III also sports an 8-Megapixel camera with fancy shooting modes like panorama and burst mode. However, the Lumia 920’s camera, beefed up with PureView Technology promises better performance than the other phones, which makes it a likely contender for winner. But what seems sure is that the new iPhone camera will trump its Samsung counterpart.
LTE and Networks:
Samsung and Nokia are relatively prominent in the LTE sector, with Apple playing catch up.
Battery Life:
The Nokia Lumia’s 2000 mAh and Windows OS should stand the device in good stead, while the iPhone offers 10 hours video playback. However, the S III takes the cake with its 2100 mAh removable battery.
NFC and Voice Assistant:
The new iPhone does not come with NFC, which exposes a glaring weakness and makes Samsung the winner in that round. However, Apple strikes back with Siri, which is the best voice assistant out there.
On the whole, the iPhone 5 wins pretty narrowly, with solid software and hardware reliability. The S III has some good features, but also some bugs, which spoil the user experience. Much cannot be said about the Lumia 920 before it is unveiled, because its 8.7 MP Pureview Camera should be a major selling point.

How can you say that the iPhone 5 is the narrow winner when 4 out of 6 of your categories (im including body design here) is ruled by Nokia?
Regarding the NFC/Voice support, you didn’t even mention Nokia, and the 920 has NFC, as well as excellent voice support, so that really should be another feather in the 920′s cap.

I agree with joe, Nokia is clearly the winner.
