Even though Apple has not officially announced the lower cost iPhone “5C”, it appears that accessory makers have been getting products ready to sell for when it finally hits the market. With the release of the iPhone 5S coming just around the corner, you could imagine that all eyes in the mobile world will be on Apple for the next couple of months since a lower cost iPhone and the possibility of another iPad Mini are also to be announced around the same time. To go along with the products, Apple will also be releasing the latest version of the iOS operating system.
The new case that was spotted by eagle eyes online is called the elago S5C Slim Fit 2 Case and it is available on Amazon.com right now. The case has sort of a wrap around design that will protect the back side of the device from scratches and drops while at the same time providing plenty of access to the front side of the device. The case is listed at just $10.99 with two color options called Soft Feeling Jean Indigo and Soft Feeling Black and White.
According to the Amazon.com website, the case will not ship until August 26th, so the case is in more of a “pre-order” status. That also tells us that the iPhone 5C will not be shipping until at least the end of next month. Accessory makers have been getting much better at releasing accessories before the launch of new smartphones in order to take full advantage of the flood of orders that will come in when the device is actually launched to the public. The same thing happened with the Galaxy S4 when it arrived and many accessories were already on the shelf.
Because the products are pushed out ahead of time, the overall design of some devices that have not been announced can be determined. The Galaxy S4 was clearly going to have more rounded corners and that was just based on what the case looked like when it went up for pre-order weeks before the device was announced. The iPhone 5C will be a cheaper model iPhone, with a 4-inch display and will likely be made from plastic rather than having an all metal body which will reduce the cost greatly. Very little information has been released other than that at this time.
