If Apple’s launch events are known for anything it has to be the dramatic effect that the company creates! Sometimes it works the effect in with the inclusion of a second device for the publicized launch of something the entire world is looking out for. The iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled on September 12th but there is the possibility that it will bring with it a smaller version of the iPad that many are already calling the iPad mini.
However, that doesn’t seem likely as Apple wouldn’t want to shift the focus from its flagship device that has already dropped sales in the previous quarter as potential customers choose to wait in the expectation of a new version. In fact, some reports predicted that there would be a new version of the iPod nano unveiled at the same event but that seems even more unlikely now.
Firstly, Apple will not want reviews of several products coming out on the same day, each with its own analysis. Though critics and analysts will not be Apple’s immediate concern on the day of the launch as its focus will be entirely on people camping outside the stores trying to get their hands on a new device, the effects will be seen in the long term as it might put off potential buyers of both devices from buying. What is more likely is that there will be two events, one that is going to unveil the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 and the other to show off the iPad mini and the new nano, if it is coming at all.
The iPhone 5 is likely going to be larger than the current versions and definitely more powerful but there is always the possibility that it will fail to reach the high expectations. It might sound logical to release a second device with it to soften the blow on the buyers, not the company, but the buyers but with the Apple brand, the phone will sell anyway. The best bet will be to announce the iPad mini a few weeks after the iPhone 5 is on its way to help Apple regain its top spot from Samsung in terms of sales. Moreover, the fans who already spent their savings on the iPhone 5 will have enough to buy another Apple product!
