Back in the day, Nokia was one of the leading manufacturers in the smartphone competition. This was way back when the Finnish manufacturer’s E-Series line of devices were still very popular to the smartphone-buying public. Everything doesn’t end well for Nokia though with the entry of other big-name OEMs such as Apple, Samsung, HTC, Motorola and the like in the market. With these other OEMs releasing their respective devices, Nokia had no choice but to take the back seat because it had difficulties in competing with these other manufacturers.
This trend went on for a couple of years until Nokia has had enough and started its bid to reclaim lost glory and attempt to be relevant again in the smartphone competition. It started this plan by joining software giant Microsoft in a strategic alliance where the Finnish manufacturer started the production of handsets for the Windows Phone ecosystem. Its bid to be competitive again was started with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 late last year followed by the launch of the Nokia Lumia 900 4G last April in US shores courtesy of AT&T.
Nokia is following it up with the unveiling of the Nokia Lumia 920 several months back, which like its predecessor, is also an AT&T exclusive. Released a couple of weeks ago, the current flagship of the Finnish smartphone manufacturer for the Windows Phone ecosystem is one of the hottest handsets in the market today which is not surprising at all because of the impressive specs sheet that it packs and the even more impressive capabilities that it brings to the table.
These are also the same reasons as to why there is said to be a tremendous demand for the handset today. Reports are already coming in that the Nokia Lumia 920 is already sold out at AT&T and both the cyan and black variants of the handset have the same status at the carrier’s online store. However, without the hard figures to show just how many units of the handset Nokia managed to ship and sell, it is still hard to ascertain whether there is really a high demand for the handset or there is only a minimal stock of the handset in the warehouses of Nokia and/or AT&T. Either way, nothing can change the fact that the Nokia Lumia 920 is one awesome handset and is certainly one of the handsets that Windows fanboys are expecting to see in their stockings come Christmas morning.
As for the Nokia Lumia 920, the handset’s circuitry is built around its QualComm MSM8960 SnapDragon chipset while the computing muscle it requires for its flawless performance is generated by the handset’s dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and full gigabyte of RAM. Storage space onboard the device is pegged at a very generous 32GB while its display is a 4.5-inch ClearBlack-powered, PureMotion HD+ IPS TFT panel fashioned from Gorilla Glass 2 with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. Its camera department on the other hand features a rear 8MP shooter and a front 1.3MP video chat and self-portrait camera.-
You can purchase the Nokia Lumia 920 for a reduced price tag now starting at $49.99.
