We reported here last month that the HTC One 4G Android smartphone would be receiving the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 Android operating system update “in around two months time.” And it appears that estimation was correct, according to recent news. An upgrade in the operating system for the flagship HTC smartphone has been slated for July, according to Australia’s Telstra network. The announcement came on a customer support page of that company’s website.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean would deliver multiple software tweaks and minor bug fixes, including additional camera features. The smartphone manufacturer has not officially announced when Jelly Bean 4.2.2 will hit the premium metal clad phone, but the Telstra listing suggests that the HTC One update is only “waiting for initial vendor submission” and will probably hit sometime in early July. The popular HTC One has already sold more than 5 million units, and hit the tech-hungry United States marketplace in April.
As slim as it is multi-talented, the HTC One 4G Android smartphone measures in at a wafer-thin 0.37 inches (9.3 mm) in profile. The large 4.7 inch Super LCD 3 display benefits from an industry-leading 468 ppi pixel density, giving the handset an overall Full HD resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, the screen uses more than 16 million different colors to render visual displays.
They gave the HTC One handset a 2,300 mA battery, capable of delivering up to 16.0 hours of talk time and 8.5 hours of video playback from a full charge. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 APQ8064T system-on-a-chip powers the phone, centering around a quad core 1.7 GHz central processor. A full 2.0 GB of RAM is on board, a generous 32 GB of built-in data storage is present, and a powerful Adreno 320 GPU handles the graphics. NFC support is present, as is a Stereo FM radio with RDS and dual front speakers. And instead of following the trend of simply adding more megapixels to the phone’s rear facing camera, HTC has created what they call the UltraPixel.
The rear snapper on the phone combines a 4.0 megapixel lens with a more advanced CMOS Sensor, ISP, and optical lens system. This allows the camera to capture significantly more light than most 8 or 13 megapixel cameras, up to 300%. Capable of 1,080P HD video recording, the phone can also record slow motion clips at 768 x 432 pixels. The camera on the HTC One 4G can capture up to 20 photos and a 3 second video with one push of the shutter button, and delivers an extensive special effects and customization feature package. The phone also offers a front facing chat cam with video and Skype call support.
